Raymond T. Moberly
March 3, 1958 – February 23, 2010
Raymond Thomas Moberly was called home to heaven on February 23, 2010, surrounded and comforted by his loving family after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Born March 3, 1958, in Modesto, CA, Ray spent most of his life in the Lodi area, graduating from Lodi High School. He worked as the General Manager for Tom’s House of Hydraulics in West Sacramento.
A devoted husband and father, Ray and his family were active at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s High School.
He loved Elisa, his partner of 22 years, who truly exemplified what it is to be a loving, Christian wife. Ray is also survived by four children, who were his whole world. Chris (27), after three years in the Army with a tour in Iraq, now attends Oklahoma City College in Oklahoma. Jared (25) also served our country as a Sergeant in the Army, including a year in Iraq, and currently attends Foothill College in Los Altos, California. Amanda (21) is studying at CSU Sonoma to be an elementary school teacher and speech therapist. Dominic (18) attends Delta College with plans on becoming an architect or engineer.
A quiet man, Ray could fabricate or fix anything, especially with duct tape. Chris remembers a phone conversation where his dad guided him through repairs of a water heater. He never bragged about his abilities, but any discussion quickly proved his knowledge. His talents ranged from metalworking to carpentry to electrical to plumbing. Known as the “Master BBQer,” he made the best tri tip, deviled eggs, and banana nut bread. He enjoyed astronomy, classic rock, his remote control speedboat, camping, king crab legs, lighthouses, and trips to the coast.
Ray also leaves behind his mother, Eva (Arnie) Seibel, sister Angela (Calvin) Young, brother Ron Moberly, mother-in-law Phyllis Isoardi, sister-in-law Julianne (Earl) Harper, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Moberly, his brother Nickie Moberly, grandparents Hazel Moberly and Mack and Modist Endres, and father-in-law Nello Isoardi.
A Memorial Mass and reception will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010, at St Anne’s Catholic Church, 215 W. Walnut St., Lodi. Committal will be private. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Moberly Children’s college fund. For more information contact Angie Young at 368-2437.
