William B. Mahoney
William B. Mahoney, 82 of Lodi passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2010 in a local hospital. He was born September 23, 1927 in North Adams, MA and came to California in 1957 settling in the Lancaster area. Bill worked for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for 30 years before retiring and coming to Lodi in the early 1990’s.
Having polio as a child, Bill was an avid supporter of the Shriner’s hospitals for children his entire life. He fought a courageous battle with cancer and never complained which was so typical of his beloved Irish heritage.
Survivors include, his son, William Mahoney (Laura) of Woodbridge, stepson, Jim Brown (Julee) of Stockton, four grandchildren, Laurie, Jim, Jessica and David as well as five great grandchildren. His wife of 52 years, Jean Mahoney preceded him in death in 2007.
There will be no services at his request and private inurnment will be at the Southview Cemetery in North Adams, MA. Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
