Remembering
Elda Pettit Linderman
Elda Pettit Linderman, loving mother and friend, died peacefully on March 2, 2010. She was born in Pretty Prairie, Kansas, in 1918, and married Jack Pettit in 1936. While living in Kansas she had three children: Margy, Robert, and Judy. In 1935 Elda and her family moved to Downey, Cal., where a fourth child, Michael, was born, and she became a real estate broker. After the death of her first husband in 1968, she married Charles (Chick) Linderman, and inherited two wonderful step-children, Sharon and Richard. When the children were grown, she and Chick retired and lived for many years in Alta Sierra near Grass Valley, and then briefly in Lodi. They then lived at O’Connor Woods in Stockton.
Elda was outgoing and outspoken, with an engaging sense of humor and a sharp intellect. Friends also describe her as loyal, generous, and caring. She is survived by sister Vada Newton, of Denton, Tx, and by six children, eight grandchildren, and four great grand-daughters. A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine’s Chapel, O’Connor Woods, at 2PM March 6. Reception to follow. Donations may be made for a memorial in Elda’s name and sent to Garden Oaks, 3334 Wagner Heights Road, Stockton, CA, 95209, atten: Clara.
