Funeral Service Options

Although the following is a list of most commonly selected services in San Joaquin County, we can care for your needs in a manner best suited to your loved one's lifestyle.

Traditional Funeral

Casketed funerals are held in one of our chapels or in a church, temple or synagogue of your choice. Funeral services can be held in other suitable locations as well.

Graveside Service

Casketed funerals are held at beautiful Cherokee Memorial Park but can be held in the cemetery of your choice.

Celebration of Life / Memorial Services

Services without a casket present can be held in one of our chapels, your church, temple or synagogue or at the graveside if desired.

Cremation

Although cremation has been selected, a wide variety of service options are still available. You can choose from a traditional service followed by cremation, cremation followed by Celebration of Life / Memorial Service or cremation followed by a graveside service.

Immediate Burial

Immediate burial consists of the burial done at the completion of the permitting process. This is typically completed without the presence of the family although arrangements can be made for the witnessing of the burial.

Forwarding of Remains to Another Funeral Home

This is commonly known as a "ship-out". Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home ships remains throughout the world.

Receiving Remains From Another Funeral Home

This is commonly known as a "ship-in". Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home works with funeral homes from a variety of locations to complete the burial in a local cemetery.

Visitation

Visitation or viewing is a time when family and or friends can gather and recognize a death has occurred. It's a time to say goodbye on an informal occasion. Family and or friends may visit and remember the life that was lived in more of a home setting. Saying goodbye to the physical presence allows one to accept the fact that the death has occurred and is part of the process of healing. Visitation or viewing can be held with any service option selected at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home.
