Harvey Berndt

Harvey Otto Berndt ObituaryHarvey Berndt peacefully went to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He will be missed by many, especially his family: wife, Ruth Violet (Weigum); daughter and son-in law, Mike and Debby (Berndt) Walker; son, John Berndt; and grandchildren Steven Walker, Jenna Berndt, Jesse Berndt, and Brianna Berndt; brother, Bob Berndt; and several cousins including his very special cousin, Vern Weigum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Melitta (Frank) Berndt and sister, Viola (Berndt) Strobel.
Harvey was born in Herried, South Dakota on July 14, 1927. His family moved to Lodi in 1936. Harvey enlisted in the Merchant Marines wile still attending Lodi High; returning to graduate at the conclusion of WWII. Harvey was married on his 23rd birthday to his loving wife, Ruthie. They were married over 65 years.

Harvey was a grape grower in the Victor area for over 65 years. He made daily trips to oversee his vineyards until June 2015. Harvey was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church and served on the board of directors for both Youth for Christ and the California Freestone Peach Board.

Harvey always enjoyed fun times with family. He especially liked vacationing in Santa Cruz and Lake Tahoe. He loved water skiing, snow skiing and various travel adventures. Some of his favorite trips included fishing in Alaska and trips to Hawaii and Branson, MO to enjoy concerts. Harvey's favorite pastime was playing ball with his golden retriever Jennie.

Our family is most grateful for the very loving care Harvey received from the staff members while residing at Vienna Rehab Center in Lodi since last June.

SERVICES

Friends and family are invited to attend Harvey's graveside service on Saturday, February, 20 at 10am, at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi,CA 95240. A Celebration of Life and reception will follow beginning at 11am, on February 20, at the Temple Baptist Church, 801 S. Lower Sacramento Road, Lodi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Salvation Army or to Lodi House.

Carroll Keith Hill

Carroll Keith Hill, 1940-2016 Carroll Keith Hill of Stockton, passed away February 9, 2016. Born in Oklahoma on October 24, 1940, Keith went to work at age 17 for Tillie Lewis Foods and was employed there for 38 years then going to work for San Binto Foods in Hollister for 20 years. Keith will be missed by his devoted wife of 46 years, Shirley Hill. Also survived by his children Debbie Lafever, Teresa Simpson, Jimmy Hill, Carla Lynn Dix, Pam Sutherland and Rick Hill. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, Steven, Duane, Cody, Robert, Kelley, Lil Jim, Tara, Jimmy Ray, Danny, Alana Marissa, Stacy, Marie, Mark Jr., Tiffani, Richale and 20 great grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his parents Homer A. Hill and Neva Hill, Brother Lloyd Ivey, children Debbie Hill and Pamela Sutherland.

Connie Copulos

Connie CopulosIMG_2638.JPG Early February 7th, 2016, our beloved Wife, Mom and Gram passed away in her home of 43 years in rural Lodi. She was surrounded and held by her family as she slipped from us at the age of 77. Connie was born in Utah in 1938 to Afton and Willard Dillon, followed by two sisters, Vickey and Loma. She grew up mostly in Long Beach, California where she met her husband of 57 years, C.M. “Mike” Copulos. They had three children, Tina, Craig and Chad before moving to Lodi in 1973. It is here in Lodi that Connie created a home filled with love and happiness for her husband, children and grandchildren. Through the years she was known for her sewing, baked goods and jams, enjoyed by all that knew her. Connie was a tremendously devoted, giving person who provided comfort and care for everyone around her. She is remembered by her husband, Mike Copulos; daughter Tina & her husband, Barry Elzig; son, Craig & his wife, Cindy Copulos; son Chad Copulos & his husband, Anthony Belef. Connie is Gram to five grandchildren, Joshua, Sara & Allie Elzig, Justin and Casey Copulos.

SERVICES

A Celebration of her Life will be held at Clements Community Church, 18544 E. Walnut St
 Clements, CA on Saturday March 19th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin.

Harold Malvern (Hal) McClelland February 23, 1926 - February 2, 2016Resident of Lodi

Hal reached the "end of the trail" on February 2, 2016 at Lodi Memorial Hospital three weeks short of his 90th birthday. Born in McClelland

Susanville, Lassen County, California on February 23, 1926, Hal was the second of the three children born to Bernard G. and Gladys M. McClelland.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Lee (Debbie) Habben of Modesto and his sister, Mardelle Kincaid of San Jose. He

leaves to cherish his memory JoAnn, his devoted wife of 63 years, his son, Robert (Bob), and partner Kelley with Shannon, Nelson, and baby Mateo of Lockeford and Lodi. Grandson Nathan Habben and fiancé Christine Perry of Santa Monica, and his brother, James (Diana) of Point Richmond.

He also leaves niece Kathryn (David) Yarkony of Baltimore, nephew, Mark (Ari) McClelland of Oakland, and cousin Dana (Peggy)

Wemple of Burlingame, and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Edward D. Walshin

Edward D. WalshinIMG_0770 Edward D. Walshin passed away in Stockton on January 28, 2016 at the age of 78. He was born in Oakland, CA on November 11, 1937 to Seymour and Harriette Walshin. Ed worked for many years as a cement truck driver for 40 years, and enjoyed the outdoors – especially camping and fishing. He also was a fan of the San Francisco Giants, attending his first game last season. He also enjoyed traveling to Puerto Vallarta, and going to the Saturday morning flea market. Above all Ed loved his family, and cherished spending time and special occasions with them.

He is survived by his daughter Debbie Walshin of Stockton; son Edward S. Walshin of Stockton; grandchildren: Josh Carson (wife Jeanne), Noelle Carson (fiancé Joseph Colangelo), Jordan Walshin, Cierra Walshin, and Tanner Walshin; great-grandchildren: Gia Carson, Luke Carson, and Rowan Walshin; and his beloved Golden Lab Dallas.

Ron Walker

10/27/1943 - 01/28/2016Walker Ron Walker passed away at the age of 72 on January 28, 2016. Born on October 27, 1943, Ron retired in 2010 after working 30 years for Oroville Cogeneration, L.P.  He is survived by his wife, Jane (Litch) Walker, and his daughters, Sheila (Harold) Granger and Shelly Walker, and granddaughter Ashley Granger.  He also leaves behind his great grandchildren, Anthony Jr. and Alayna Zapata and sister, Linda McCauley, and nieces, Joyce Ruiz, Julie Lacey, Lori McClelland and nephew Matthew McCauley.

SERVICES

Norman Bradley Harris

Norman Bradley Harris1942-2016

Norman Bradley Harris passed away on January 25, 2016 in Stockton at the age of 73. Norman resided on the familyHarris ranch in Acampo. Born in Oakland, he moved to Rio Linda at a young age. As a young boy he was involved with the Sacramento Horseman’s Club. Norman graduated from Highlands High School in 1960 and Stockton College in 1962. On August 7, 1965 Norman married his childhood sweetheart Dustie Baker. Norman was a lifetime member of the California State Horseman’s Association. He was a horse show judge for many years traveling up and down the west coast and 3 trips to Hawaii. Norman enjoyed hunting, hiking and the great outdoors. He was always quick to share his knowledge and love of horses. Norman is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Dustie Harris. He is survived by his daughter Kerri Barcroft (William), granddaughter Lynndee Barcroft of Acampo, and sister Marilyn Cook (John) of Lodi.

SERVICES

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Evergreen chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 at E. Harney Lane, Lodi.

Leona Miller

Miller 07/12/1922 – 01/22/2016

Leona Miller, 93, of Lodi, passed away January 22, 2016. Born July 12, 1922 in Wishek, North Dakota to Christian and Katherina Walth, she graduated from Wishek High School in 1940, and earned her Nursing degree from Alexius Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. Leona married Albert Miller on June 27, 1944, and followed him to his duty station in Newfoundland for his service in World War II. After returning to Wishek, her son, Donald, was born in 1946. Leona and Albert lived briefly in Havre, Montana, before following her German relatives to Lodi in 1954. She worked for many years at Lodi Memorial Hospital before being recruited by Dr. George Williams for his private practice. Later, she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton before retiring in 1974. Leona continued her work, however, volunteering in the pharmacy at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

She was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church until moving to O’Connor Woods in 2003. Leona was an avid needle pointer, crocheter, and knitter until her eyesight failed her. At O’Conner woods she was known as the Orchid Lady, for her love of the flower and ability to make them blossom.

Leona is survived by her son, Don (Linda) Miller, grandson Doug (Lisa) Miller, and great grandchildren, Zoey and Zachariah Miller.

Her husband, Albert Miller, and her parents precede her in passing.

INTERMENT

Inurnment will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park, Hwy 99 and Harney Lane in Lodi, California.
