George Alford Paxton

George was the youngest of 5 children born in Modesto, CA to Archie and Mary Paxton. He graduated from Modesto High School in June 1941. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the US Army as a Motorboat Operator (Combat Engineer) and an M1 Rifle Expert.

He met the love of his life, Lois Lavaroni after meeting on a blind date in San Andreas, CA. They were married in February 1952 in Carson City, NV. He worked as a PBX Repairman for Pacific Bell for 36 years retiring in 1981. George and Lois loved travelling in their RV with their grandchildren and one of their favorite destinations was Pigeon Point. They subsequently bought property in the foothills and spent much time with their family and friends. He was her loving caregiver for many years and will be greatly missed.

George is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lois; his daughters: Kathleen (Dennis) Kaeslin, Mary Garcia (Frank McCullough), Sharon (William) Gardner; grandchildren: Kenny (Karina) Garcia, Angela (Vincent II) Reyes, Paul McCullough, Thomas Kaeslin, Michelle Gardner, and Michael Kaeslin. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren. His sisters Ruth and Catherine and brothers William and Robert precede him in death.

Alex Eugene Seifert

Alex Eugene Seifert August 3, 1937 - May 21, 2016

Alex was the oldest of 4 children, born in Worland, Wyoming to Alexander and Lucille Eckhardt Seifert Bucholtz.  Graduated from Stockton High School, Stockton College, and the University ofFullSizeRender Pacific with his doctor degree in Pharmacy. Alex, AKA Mean Gene was a Pharmacy for 50 years in Stockton, Modesto and Sonoa, California.  He is remembered by the people he worked with as one of the smartest in his field and most generous and fun to work with.

Gene is survived by his brothers: Gerald Seifert of Manteca, and Stephen Seifert of Joplin MO., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gene was an avid 49er, Giants and Warriors fan. His favorite place to vacation was Lake Tahoe.  Gene enjoyed both Golf and bowling with family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Alex Seifert, Lucille Bucholtz and brother Stanley Seifert.

Daryl Eugene Cumber

Daryl Eugene Cumber, 67, Lockeford, CA - Surrounded by his loving family, Daryl entered into heaven peacefully at home under hospice care on May 20th.  He was born January 2, 1949 in Rib Lake, Wisconsin. He was the fourth child of Cumber PhotoHarold and Cordelia Cumber.  He met the love of his life Sharon Weaver at Wausau East High School where they both graduated in 1967. They were married on August 3, 1968 in Wausau, WI.   They had two daughters, Jessie and Jodi, and six grandchildren.

They moved to Tracy, CA in 1977 where he began to work as a ceramic tile setter apprentice. He learned the trade quickly and excelled.  Within a few years, he obtained his contractor’s license and worked independently, completing beautiful custom tile, marble and stone designs and installations.  He worked all over the Central Valley and Bay Area and some of his work can still be viewed at sites such as Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco.  He is remembered by the people he worked with as one of the most talented in his field and one of the most generous and fun-loving guys to work with.

Daryl moved to Lockeford, CA in 2002, with Sharon, where he resided until his passing.

Daryl was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed watching the games.  He visited Lambeau Field whenever he got the chance.  He liked to fish, collect antiques, loved old classic cars and was in the process of restoring his ’67 GTO.  One of his favorite things to do was to spend time with his grandchildren whether it was watching their sports events, attending piano recitals or just hanging out and talking.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Cumber (Weaver), daughters Jessie Vickers (Larry) Lodi, CA and Jodi Leonardo (Johnny) Lodi, CA.

Grandchildren: Mason Daryl Vickers Elk Grove, CA., Austin, Logan and Lauren Vickers Lodi, CA., Johnny Daryl and Jianna Leonardo Lodi, CA.

Brothers: Wayne Cumber Wausau, WI., Alan Cumber (Donna) Florence, WI., Steven Cumber (Patty) Oshkosh, WI., Gary Cumber (Carol) Appleton, WI., Kevin Cumber (Linda) Oshkosh, WI.,

Sisters: Barbara Rice (Jim) Aniwa, WI., Patricia Cumber (Jay Robinson) Oshkosh, WI., Lora Bartlett Oshkosh, WI., Rebecca Garcia (Pete) Salida, CA.

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Cordelia Cumber, and sister, Sylvia Vassar.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 10:00am at Cherokee Memorial Park, (Evergreen Chapel) Harney Lane at Highway 99 in Lodi, California

James Richard Saul Jr. was born Aug. 26, 1934 in Allentown, PA and went to rest on May 20, 2016 in Stockton, CA. James was preceded in death by both parents—the late James R. Saul Sr. & Mae Saul—and younger sister—Judith Saul. He leaves behind the

love of his life of 39 years, Lydia T. Saul, his children James (Jimmy) R. Saul III (Jessica), Thea Ordez (David), Jeanne Gardea (Tom), Freddie Castillo (Cindy), Elizabeth Sena (Jim), Annette Munoz (Fred), and Edward Castillo, 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many close friends and relatives. James went by the names of “Jim,” “Jimbo,” and “Pops.” At the age of 17, Jim joined the Navy and received many medals of honor and awards throughout his military life. After being

stationed in various places, Jim finally retired from Midway Island.  He then again retired as a Fire Chief Inspector from Stockton's Rough and Ready Fire Department.  He enjoyed watching football, especially his #1 team—The Raiders—as well as watching many other sports and Western films with his best friend/dog, Sandy, who was constantly at his side.  Throughout his life, he found pleasure in going golfing, going on cruises, cooking, and doing his routine shopping and errands. He had a unique way of greeting all those who he met and easily touched their hearts. Jim’s ashes are to be spread at sea.

A memorial service will be held on June 4, 2016 at American Legion Karl Ross Post 16 located at 2020 Plymouth Rd., Stockton, CA, beginning at 1 p.m. A celebration of Jim's life will immediately follow the ceremony.  May he rest in peace and may we find comfort -  Revelations 21:3,4.

Donald J. Bryant

Donald James Bryant born to the late Elsie R. Bryant and Guy O. Bryant in Brentwood, Mo.Bryantobit

As a young man Don enjoyed playing baseball and entertaining on the piano.  An accomplished ball player, Don played semi pro ball for the St. Louis Redbirds, later known as the St. Louis Cardinals.

Drafted in 1945 during WW2, Don was first assigned to the Army War College in Washington D.C., then sent to Cairo, Egypt as an MP. Staff Sergeant at discharge.

Returning to St. Louis, Don had been a storekeeper for the MKT railroad before moving his family to California, where he continued his career as a buyer for J-M Manufacturing.

Ending his career with the City Of Stockton as purchasing agent, Don earned many accolades, including being the first certified auctioneer for the City Of Stockton, graduating from the Missouri School Of Auctioneering, earning the title Of “Colonel Bryant.”

Don was past president of the CAPA, California Association of Purchasing Agents.

Don could be heard on numerous occasions tickling the keys, playing at various venues in Stockton and the Bay Area for his professional meetings.  He continued his piano playing days at Arbor Senior Living, entertaining friends and family with his command of the piano and playing in the Senior Follies in Lodi.

Dad and Mom enjoyed nearly 61 years of marriage, traveling throughout the U.S., Europe, Canada and the Orient.  The most fun was their regular trips to Jackson Rancheria, where they made numerous friends and hit a few jackpots.

Predeceased by his loving wife, Virginia L. Bryant In 2010.  Predeceased by siblings, Guy O. Bryant, Kenneth Bryant, June Strassner and Janet Grunewald.

Survived by children, Dona Kendall (Walter) Terre Haute, Ind., Guy Bryant (Tracy) Stockton, Kathy Cockayne (Jeff) Woodbridge.

Grandchildren, James Kendall, Terre Haute, Ind., Janis Spurgeon (Steve) Camby, Ind.,

Robert Quaschnick, DDS (Lolita) Lodi, Christine Starnes and Guy Bryant of Charleston, S.C., Step grandchildren, Chris and Robert Canale.

Great grandchildren, Ceci, Lewis, Logan and Lucas Spurgeon, Kennedy and Cameron Quaschnick.

Lupe Acevedo Martinez 79, of Stockton passed away unexpectedly while vacationing in Mexico.  She was born on May 5, 1936 in Colima, Mexico.  She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Martinez and mother to Sandra Sanchez (Steve), Ed Martinez (Tammy), Shelia McDonald, and Stan Martinez (Nancy). She was the grandmother to 10 and Great grandmother to 7.

She retired from Lincoln Unified School District and was a member of Presentation Church. She loved to travel, garden, cook, sew, and spend time with family and friends.

You may be gone from our sight but you are never gone from our hearts.

A Visitation will be held Thursday May 5, 2016   12-8:00 pm @ Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home (831 Industrial Way, Lodi, CA 95240)
