Elmer Sanguinetti

January 12, 1930 - February 2, 2018 Elmer Sanguinetti passed away on February 2, 2018 in Rancho Mirage, CA at the age of 88. He was born to Lena and Joseph Sanguinetti on January 12, 1930 in Stockton. He attended local schools, graduating from Stockton High School and attended Stockton Jr. College studying business administration. He served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict in the US Army Ordinance Corps.

Elmer spent 51 years in the title insurance industry beginning in 1955. In 1965 he founded First Stockton Title and served as VP and President, respectively.  In 1981 the company changed its name to First American Title, having experienced growth into 5 counties. Elmer was appointed Chairman of the Board in 1995 and in 2006 the company sold to First American Title Insurance Company.  Throughout his life he continued farming cherries and walnuts in Linden area.

He was an avid pilot, and worked with the Sheriff’s Air Patrol. He was also a Past President and longtime member of the Stockton Golf and Country Club.

He is survived by his wife Margaret “Peggy” Sanguinetti; daughter Carole Jensen; son Kevin Sanguinetti; grandchildren: Kendell Jensen, Connor Sanguinetti and Chandler Sanguinetti; step children: Danny Houston and Jennifer Schiaffino; and step grandchildren: Callie, Caitlyn, Chance, Cole and Emma.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 5882 Ashley Lane, Stockton, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Hospice of San Joaquin 3888 Pacific Ave., Stockton, CA 95204, or to St. Josephs Hospital Foundation 1800 N. California St. Stockton, CA 95204.

Doris Smalley

Doris Smalley 05/02/1932 – 02/01/2018

of Lodi

Doris Smalley, 85, of Lodi, passed away February 1, 2018. Born May 2, 1932 in East Detroit, Michigan, Doris was a member of English Oaks Seventh Day Adventist Church in Lodi for the past 44 years. She taught for almost 40 years at local schools, first in Thornton, then for the Lodi Unified School District. She married Mel Smalley in 1955, and together they raised their 2 children, Linda Smalley (Ron Rall) and Melvin Smalley (Angie). Doris will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Her beloved husband, Mel, predeceased her. Donations may be made in Doris’ memory to your favorite animal welfare charity.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2018 at 10 am at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd. in Lodi, California.

INTERMENT

Doris will be laid to rest with her husband, Mel, at Sierra View Mausoleum at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California.

Bruce Owen Roberts

 December 29, 1965 - January 31, 2018 Bruce Owen Roberts was born in Kalamazoo, MI to Bruce & Barbara Roberts & died suddenly in his sleep at home.

Bruce married Theresa Mendoza April 4, 1992 and they enjoyed 29 amazing years together. He is survived by his wife, Children Albert(Amber) Escalante, Danielle Escalante, and Bruce Roberts II. Also surviving him are his grandchildren Hannah, Alivia, Evelyn, Jayce, and Jade as well, as numerous nieces and nephews. He was a loving brother to sister Shannon Roberts, and brother in law to Rachelle Jachalke, Jim(Brenda) Mendoza, Dora(Eddy) Gomez, Kathy Mendoza and will be dearly missed by all of the Roberts family in Ohio as well.

Bruce loved being outdoors fishing, camping, BBQing with family and friends and working in his yard. His bigger than life personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bruce is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents Iva (Maw Maw) & Owen Roberts, Maternal grandparents Ruth & Darrel Bogart and aunt and uncle Diela & Francis Davis.

Janet Louise McDonald Jones

December 6, 1940 - January 30, 2018 Janet Louise McDonald was born in Brawley, California on December 6, 1940. She was the firstborn of seven children to TR and Jenny McDonald.  Janet received the Holy Ghost when she was eight years old. Her musical ability was soon apparent and she was playing the piano for church services by the time she was ten.  During the 1960’s Janet wrote many songs, some of which are still sung today. Two of her most well-known are “This Holy Ghost is Genuine” and “I’ve Got the Holy Ghost.”  At Christian Life Center in Stockton, she taught Sunday School, was active in the music department, and gave music lessons for many years.

Janet married James Jones in 1983, and God graciously blended their family, Jan with her two sons and James with his three daughters.

Jan worked for Valley Tow-Rite for ten years, and for San Joaquin County for 17 years, splitting time between Health and Human Services, the Registrar of Voters, and San Joaquin County Hospital.  James and Jan served in the King’s Kids ministry at CLC, and led the First-and-Second Grade class for 14 years.

On January 30, 2018, Jan lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, and passed away peacefully at age 77.

Janet is survived by her husband of 34 years, James Jones, her sons Mark Morton (Farah), and Nathan Morton (Kristie), James’ daughters Rhonda Toy (Mike), Lisa Jordan, and Pam Woodard, siblings Joy Haney, Beverly Davies (Lew), John “Mackie” McDonald (Marilyn), Mary Wilson (Nathaniel), Julie Short, and their stepmother, Lois McDonald. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, TR and Jenny McDonald, her sister and brother-in-law Priscilla and Carroll McGruder, and her brother-in-law and former pastor, Kenneth Haney.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at Christian Life Center, 9025 West Lane, Stockton, CA 95210.

BURIAL

Interment follows services at Cherokee Memorial Park, Lodi, CA.

 

Lloyd "Dale" DeWitt

AUGUST 14, 1944 - JANUARY 29, 2018 Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home is honored to serve the DeWitt family.

Lloyd DeWitt retired in quality control/food preparation with General Mills, working some years in Lodi and some years in Minneapolis.  Lloyd served in the United States Army, enjoyed trains, his Grandfather clock, and any electrical device with surround sound- the LOUDER the BETTER.  Though he did not have any children of his own, he still enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephews, his grandchildren, and many others.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd DeWitt and Lois Becknell, his wife Linda, and sister Jeanie Boone.

He is survived by his niece Diana Boone, Great niece Lily Boone, and several cousins; his step sister Judy(Becknell) Schnabel, step brothers John Becknell, and Dale Becknell and their children; his step daughters Deanna Tryon, Michelle Maekin, and their children;and his step son Morris Rodrique and his children.
