Tommie Osburn

December 24, 1938 - October 15, 2018

Tommie Sue Osburn, age 79, of Lodi, after a short illness, died October 15, 2018 at Lodi Memorial Hospital with family by her side. Sue, or "Auntie Sue," was born December 24, 1938 at home in Douthat, OK, the youngest of three children and the only daughter. Her father, Thomas, was a miner and entrepreneur when Sue was young. Her mother, Julia, was a homemaker.
When Sue was only a few years old she moved with her family to Ione, CA where she grew up. She attended schools in Ione and graduated from Ione High School. She was on the high school yearbook staff the year the yearbook was dedicated to her brother, who worked at the school. Also, while in high school she proved to be a good tennis player and continued to play tennis for much of her life. She played on a women's softball team named Ben's Bells, which was sponsored by her brother's business. Sue also enjoyed reading and had remarkably good and distinctive hand writing throughout her life. Additionally, she enjoyed country music, besides spending time with family.
After high school and through a friend, Sue got a job at Pacific Bell, which later became part of AT&T, in Jackson, CA. This started her life-long career as a telephone operator. When the Jackson telephone office closed she moved to Lodi to work in that office and later worked in the Stockton office, where she retired.
Sue never married or had kids. But she doted over her nieces and nephews. Also, she loved animals, especially cats. She owned many cats over the years and most were ones she rescued. She was a dependable donor to many cat and animal rescue organizations.
Sue was especially famous for her home-made fudge, which she gave out generously and it was joyfully received. She also was generous and compassionate with family and friends. She often created tasks for her nieces and nephews to do as an excuse to pay them in order to help them pay for school or the essentials they needed.
Sue's relatives were always her first priority. She and her brothers were very close, and they always doted over her. After she was retired one of her bothers called to talk with her every day. Her nieces and nephews were very fond of her. Sue was kind, funny and fun to be with. She had a deep knowledge of family history and was the go-to person for anything related to family history.
Auntie Sue was a committed Christian who believed in the value of faith, love and kindness.
Auntie Sue is survived by her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in her death by her parents Tom and Julia, and by her brothers Leoland and Ben.

The family wishes to especially thank Debbie Fraser, Auntie Sue's niece and the daughter of Leoland, whom Sue asked to take the lead in her care. The family also wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of Lodi Memorial Hospital for Sue's excellent care.

SERVICE

The memorial service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday October 27, 2018 at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi, CA  95240. Committal will be in the Last Supper Mausoleum at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at Harney Lane and Hwy 99, Lodi, CA 95240.

Robert Pollard

April 18, 1924 - October 13, 2018

Robert Earle Pollard, 94, went to his heavenly Home to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on October 13, 2018.
Though born in Van Nuys, CA on April 18, 1924, he spent much of his childhood in Sheep Ranch with his seven siblings. After graduating from Linden High, he entered the Army, where he served in the 3rd Infantry Division in Germany, France and Austria during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Technical Sergeant. Just as he served with valor, he continued to revere the U.S. flag and freedoms, for which he fought. Upon his return, he wed his fiancee, 17-year-old Corinne, and they made their home in Stockton. In time, two daughters, Deborah and Judith, completed their family. Through his years of employment, Bob utilized his engineering and artistic talents in diverse ways: a machinist at Geiger Iron Works, a draftsman for PG&E and for a patent attorney; 20 years as the manager of a large egg ranch in Clements, and lastly, 20 years as a technician for the School of Engineering at UOP. At 81, he retired to spend time with Corinne, traveling about the the U.S. and Europe, or just enjoying their hilltop view at their Clements home, which he designed and built at age 60. They remained actively involved at Temple Baptist (now GracePoint) Church, Lodi for over 30 years. He taught us all how to persevere in life, especially when he sustained serious injuries caused by a tractor accident. He loved to tease and bring a smile to others. He is preceded in death by six of his siblings and his first granddaughter, Shyanne. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Corinne; his brother, Harold Hansen of Sonora; his two daughters, Debbie (Jim) Poelstra of Stockton, and Judie (Rich) Moreno of Stockton; four grandchildren: Tim (Melody) Poelstra of Stockton; Steven Poelstra of Seattle. WA; Sarah Moreno of Pacifica, CA; and Rich Moreno Jr. of Stockton; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah and Hannah Poelstra; along with many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place on Sat., October 27 at 2 PM at GracePoint Church in Lodi. In his memory, donations may be given to The Gideons International, Processing Center, P.O. Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251 or to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000. A special thank you to the patient, caring staff of Hospice of San Joaquin and The Commons on Thornton!

Carmen Espinoza

April 24, 1953 - October 13, 2018

Carmen Espinoza passed away in Lodi on October 13, 2018 at the age of 65. She was born in Mexico to Alfonso and Soledad Ramos on April 24, 1953. Carmen’s life was one of hard work and singular dedication to her family. She worked many years as a cannery worker for Pacific Coast Producers, and for Lodi Unified School District for over 20 years. Her greatest joy in life came from caring for and spending time with her beloved family, often referring to her grandchildren as her “Treasures”.

Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, and her brothers Alfredo and Jesus. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Genaro Espinoza, 3 children: Genaro Espinoza Jr., Lisette Dorado (Efrain), Orlando Espinoza, and a daughter-in-law Juanita; her grandchildren: Genarito, Dianna, Michael, Jazmine, and Giselle; and by her sisters: Maria, Elisa, Eva, and Cholita.

VISITATION:

A PUBLIC visitation will be held from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240, with the vigil at 6:00pm.

SERVICES:

A mass will be held on Friday October 19, 2018 at 10:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church  located at 215 W Walnut St Lodi, CA with a graveside service to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at Harney Lane and Hwy 99, Lodi, CA 95240.

Audrey Kissler

Audrey Scott Kissler passed away on October 10, 2018 in Lodi at the age of 91. Audrey was born in Bakersfield, CA to Hubert and Eula Scott, and at a young age moved to Modesto, where she attended local schools, eventually graduating from Modesto Jr. College. She then went on to receive her Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern California. She worked for over 30 years as a Physical Therapist. Audrey enjoyed golf and travelling, and especially enjoyed music - singing in the Choir at First United Methodist Church in Lodi.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James "Jim" Kissler; her parents; and a sister Thelma Harris. She is survived by her children: Linda Diane Rhodes (Scott) and Brad Kissler; grandchildren: Lewis Callahan (Heidi), Stefanie Kincaid, Troy Kissler (Brittany); great grandchildren: Peyton, Conner, Zoey, and Barret; and by her siblings: Donald Scott and Dona Nagel.

A funeral service will take place at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at the Chapel of Flowers at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at  Harney Lane and Hwy 99, Lodi, CA 95240. Committal follows services in the Sierra View Mausoleum. Viewing will take place starting at 1:00 pm to 1:45 that same day at the Chapel of Flowers.

Donations are preferred in lieu of flowers, and may be made to the P.E.O. Star Scholarship. The Scholarship was established in 2009 for high school women attending any accredited school in the US or in Canada. Checks are payable to P.E.O. Martha Schatz

December 21, 1934 - October 8, 2018

Martha M. Schatz passed away in Lodi on October 8, 2018 at the age of 83. Martha was born on December 21, 1934 in Hoyt, OK, to Dora and Clay Kemp. Her family moved to San Joaquin County while she was very young, and she attended school in Thornton, Bruella School in Acampo and Lodi High School. She married Raymond Schatz in 1953, and their loving, committed marriage lasted nearly 65 years. Martha was preceded in death by her daughter Connie Lessner.

She is survived by her beloved husband Ray Schatz; son Ricky Schatz (Kristie); grandchildren: Alex and Bradley Schatz, Janel Lane, Steven Alberg, and Aaron Lessner; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Wayne Miller

May 15, 1929 - October 3, 2018



Wayne Otis Miller passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Stockton, CA. He was 89. Mr. Miller was born on May 15, 1929 in Williamsport, PA to his parents, Charles Otis and Nellie Mae Miller. He graduated from Stockton High School in 1947 before serving in the Army where he was stationed in Georgia during the Korean War and made lifelong friends. After the war, he continued his education and obtained his CPA license. He married Juneve Zoe Miller in 1954. They lived in Stockton and shared a love of travel, often visiting Canada for the weekend to enjoy the sights and food. After beginning his career at accounting firm, Lyman & Keister, Wayne spent most of his career as an independent CPA. After his retirement, he dedicated his remaining time to traveling, spending time with his family and keeping up with the stock market. Always an avid sports fan, he also loved watching sports, especially college baseball and football. He especially loved cheering for his grandkids' games in person when possible.

Mr. Miller was a patient man and his easy going nature made him easy to talk with. He was well respected and well loved by all who met him. Mr. Miller's adventurous spirit meant he was always up for visiting new places and trying new foods, especially with his family or friends to accompany him.

Mr. Miller is survived by his children, Victoria Kamm, Pamela Harris and Bradley Miller; his brother, Lynn Miller; and his six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Juneve and his daughter, Kerryn J.Z. Miller.

A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Cherokee Memorial Park in the Evergreen Chapel at 1pm. The interment and a reception to celebrate Mr. Miller's life will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association, the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
