Fred Trammel

December 4, 1943 - April 1, 2019

Fred R. Trammel, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2019 at home in Banta, California. He was born December 4, 1943 in Stockton, California and raised in Tracy, California. He worked as an Heavy Equipment Operator for over 30 years until retirement. After retirement, he was able to enjoy fishing, hunting, gardening and tinkering around his home. Fred is survived by his wife of 58 years, Melinda Trammel and his four children, Fred Jr. and Julie Trammel from Georgia, Cheryl and Mike Jimenez from Tracy, Joe and Carmen Trammel from Valley Springs and Christina Trammel from Stockton and his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Jeff and Sue Trammel, and his five brothers George Trammel, Samuel Trammel, Jeffrey Trammel, Roger Trammel and Clifford Trammel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday April 6, 2019 at Cherokee Memorial, The Vineyard Chapel. Gravesite burial and service will follow after the viewing. We will be hosting a celebration of life for Fred at 11793 Micke's Grove Park, Lodi California at Delta Shelter.

VISITATION:
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6th, 2019, at 10:00a.m. in the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi CA, 95240.

SERVICES:
A graveside service is to follow on the same day at 12:00p.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off of Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.

Rodney Bell

January 15, 1933 - March 31, 2019

Rodney Ellis Bell was born in Bismarck, ND, on January 15, 1933, the son of George Dewey and Martha Pearl (Ellis) Bell and died March 31, 2019, at the Lodi Memorial Hospital in Lodi, CA. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1951, and from Jamestown College, ND, in 1955. He received a Master of Arts (History) from the University of Michigan the following year before enlisting in the US Army Security Agency and completed his Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. He married his high school sweetheart, Fayne Dorean Patera, on December 29, 1956. While stationed at Fort Devens, MA, he was selected to attend the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. After graduation, he was assigned to the National Security Agency outside of Washington, DC, as a Chinese translator.
Rod began his doctoral studies at the University of Pittsburgh on an Andrew Mellon Fellowship in the Fall of 1959, and then returned to the University of Michigan on a Danforth Fellowship where he eventually completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in History. He began his teaching career at his alma mater in Jamestown, ND, and in 1970, he accepted a position in the History Department at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. He became Head of the department in 1975, a title he held until his retirement in 2000. Rod and his wife moved to Lodi, CA, in 2004.
Rod is survived by his wife, Fayne, three daughters, Carolyn (Roy) Arnold of Wichita, KS, Elizabeth (Michael) Moreno of Stockton, CA and Kathleen (Kevin) Isbell of Walnut Creek, CA, one son Thomas (Jennifer) Bell, of Gig Harbor, WA, and his dearly loved grandchildren RJ (Raven) and Ryan Arnold, Katie and Kristine Moreno, Gavin and Sienna Isbell, and Andrew, Jason, Evan, Joshua and Rowan Bell.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, S/Sgt. George Dewey, Jr., who died in WWII, and an infant son, Gregory Drew.

SERVICE
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Bismarck, ND, on Thursday, April 18, 2019.

Jack Leroy Morgan

12/13/ 1939 - 3/29/2019

Jack Leroy Morgan, born Dec. 13, 1939, in Tulare, California, started his journey peacefully into the arms of his Lord, Wednesday, March 27, 2019. Jack is survived by his wife and best friend of 40 years, Sally Ann Morgan, his daughter, Jennifer Morgan, grandchildren Jackie and Sean McNamara of Utah, and cousin David Jones of Ceres, CA. He is preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Morgan, mother Mabel Stewart, and brother Gene Brown of Sacramento, CA.

Jack attended Tokay Lodi High School, and joined the Army, serving his country in Germany. After returning from the military to Lodi, he taught Arthur Murray Dancing Instruction and managed and owned bars and restaurants until the 80's when he moved to Palm Springs, CA. In 2000 Jack returned to Lodi where he purchased Roy's Club, aka Jack's Back on Sacramento Street. In 2005, he transferred his Gaming License from Jack's Back on Sacramento St. to 1800 So. Cherokee Lane, WIne Country Cardroom aka Lodi Casino. "Action Jackson" was an avid card player, loved boxing, classic cars, music, dance, as well as played and loved all sports. Jack had a zest for life, a passion for family and friends, and never had a single enemy. Jackson was active in his Community Service and was well respected by all who had the pleasure and joy to have known him.

We love and miss you Jack. You will ALWAYS be loved, and We will never forget You.

Ronald Darnell

August 3, 1943 - March 29, 2019

Ronald R. Darnell passed away on March 29, 2019 at the age of 75. He was born in Lodi to Aaron and Loreta Darnell on August 3, 1943. He served our country honorably in the US Army, attaining the rank of Specialist 1st Class, as he carried out his duties as Intelligence Analyst. Ronald worked as a card dealer and pit boss for multiple casinos in Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. He was also a teacher where he taught his card dealing profession to many students. One of seven children, he is survived by his two sisters, Rose and Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James, Clifton, and Carlton, and sister, Barbara.

Joseph Michael

September 6, 1919 - March 26, 2019

Joseph Michael, born on September 6, 1919 in Stockton to parents Thomas and Miriam Michael and passed away on March 26th at the age of 99 in Stockton, Ca.

A lifelong resident of Stockton, Joe will always be remembered as a warm, thoughtful, generous man, contributing to his community, family and friends in countless ways. He attended local schools and graduated from Stockton High School in 1938. He attended Santa Clara University until he enlisted in the US Marine Corp in September 1941, after the completion of his junior year. In September 1942, Joe returned to Santa Clara University to complete his senior year, graduating with a BS. In June 1942, he transferred to the US Navy and was assigned to officer's training at Columbia University in New York. He was then sent to the Philippines as a Naval Lieutenant, where he continued his service until the termination of WWII. While serving in the Navy, Joe was awarded the American Defense Victory Medal and 4 Battle Stars by the Seventh Fleet Commanding Officer and the Chief of Naval Operations Base, Philippine Islands. Joe returned to Santa Clara University School of Law and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence in June 1948.

Joe opened his law office in Stockton in 1949 and years later was joined by his beloved nephew, John Cammack. He served as a president of the Young Democrats of San Joaquin County and president of the San Joaquin Bar Association. While practicing law, he became was nationally recognized as a consultant for HUD on subsidized housing and began a development company in 1969, building and managing housing for low income families and developing assisted living centers for seniors. He formally retired from law to focus on development and was elected president of the Rural Builders Council of California. Joe's successful company, Professional Apartment Management, generously offered scholarships, tutoring and childcare for several of the resident's children.

Joe was also a committed volunteer for the California Youth Authority, mentoring many young men with kindness and faith. Joe later retired from development and founded The Parks Management Company in order to focus on the management of assisted living centers. He retired in 2015, at the age of 96 after founding a nonprofit formed to assist women, children and the homeless in Stockton.

He and his wife, Shirley, were active participants at St. Michael's Church, and loved their dear friends in the parish community. Joe had an unwavering belief in God's presence and strong commitment to prayer. Joe loved golf, travelling (especially to Hawaii), fishing, gardening and entertaining in his beautiful yard. His love, support, and commitment to Shirley and his children was always present. He was extremely proud of his Lebanese heritage and the strong Lebanese community in Stockton. He lived his life with modesty, honesty, intelligence, dignity, integrity and an unmatched generosity of spirit.

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley (2015) and his great grandson, Jaymen (2018).
Joe will be greatly missed by his children: Sandy, Miriam (Dick Gregory), Cindy (Glenn Clarke), David (Pam Michael), his seven grandchildren: Lexi, Cia, Lizzie, Patrick, Joey, Karly and Matthew, his four great grandchildren: Tyler, Sierra, Dominic and Anthony , his sister-in-law, Betty Bogovich and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A mass celebrating Joe's life will be held at St. Michael's Church on Friday, April 12 at 11:00 am. There will be a luncheon reception following the mass: St. Michael's, 5882 North Ashley Lane, Stockton.
Contributions may be made in his honor/memory to St. Mary's Dining Room,  545 W. Sonora St., Stockton 95203.

There will be a church mass on Friday, March 29th, 2019, at 11:00a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church located at 5882 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton CA, 95215.
