Emil Koepplin, of Lodi passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2019 at the age of 98. He was born in Elgin, North Dakota on May 8th, 1921 to Jacob and Mathilda Koepplin, one of nine children. After the Great Depression, his family eventually settled in Victor, CA.
Emil served in World War II in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. His service took him to North Africa, Italy, Southern France, Austria, and Germany. Emil received a Citation of Merit for his service in the Battle of the Bulge. He was very proud to be a veteran.
After his discharge from the Army, Emil married Anna Just on October 31st, 1945 in Lodi, CA. They were blessed to spend 73 wonderful years together. Emil was employed as a line operator for General Mills for 33 years, retiring in 1983. In addition to raising three daughters, Emil and Anna enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and Europe, including The Holy Land and Egypt.
Emil had many skills and hobbies which included collecting and restoring pocket watches, woodworking, mechanics, and going to flea markets. He was a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and volunteered his talents assisting with projects at church.
Emil is preceded in death by his parents; spouse Anna on March 5th, 2019; daughter Linda Norton; brothers Albert, Reinhold, Jake, and Rudy; sisters Lena, Frieda, and Martha. He is survived by his sister Hertha Katzakian, daughters Loretta Marshall of Auburn and Diane Green(Rob) of Madera, grandchildren Kristen Farrar(Jim) of Davis, Greg Marshall(TovenJ) of Newport OR, Sara Harper (Brad) and Matt Green(Jessica) of Fresno. He is also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Allison, Sam, Trevor, Kylie, and Addison.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Vienna nursing home, Vistas Hospice, and Dr. Edmund Freund for their outstanding care and compassion.

Emil will be greatly missed by his and family.

Service
Per the request of the family, services for Emil Koepplin will be held privately through Cherokee Memorial.

Donations may be made in Emil’s honor to Loel Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, 105 S. Washington St., Lodi CA, 95240.

Patrick Gallagher

Patrick Gallagher, 91, a life long resident of Lodi, passed away on June 3, 2019. Pat enlisted in the Marine Corps at 17 years old and served his country during World War II from March 15th, 1945 through March 14th, 1949. Pat was born to James and Ida Gallagher on July 21, 1927, in Lodi, California. He is survived by his children: Mike, Dave (Cheryl), Roy (Debbie) and Sheryl, grandchildren: Mersades, Luke, Cheyenne, Ross, Garrett, Jarod and great-grandson Carter. He is preceded in death by his wife Alberta "Dee Dee" Gallagher, his parents James and Ida, step dad Jacob Rueb, sisters Juanita, Margaret, Marie, Nora "Billie", Alice, Grace and Hazel, and brothers Johnny, Bobbie, and Timmie.


Per his request, there will be no services.

Felino Soriano

October 8, 1941 - May 30, 2019

Felino G. Soriano, formally of Wallace, Ca passed away on May 30, 2019 with members of his family by his side. Felino, otherwise known as "Ellie" was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Oct. 8 1941 to Carmen and Paulino Soriano.  Ellie graduated from St. Williams College, Laoag City with a B.S. in Commerce. He was an accountant for AgVid, a construction firm before immigrating to the U.S. in 1969.  Ellie settled in Santa Maria, Ca where several of his siblings were.  He worked for Columbia Records before moving to San Jose, Ca in 1984 after marrying Clarita Go and retired from the USPS.  He also opened a care home in Valley Springs, Ca.
Ellie enjoyed playing tennis, scrabble, mahjong, and in his earlier years fishing with friends.  He was a devoted husband, loving son and brother, fun and caring uncle, loyal friend, and faithful servant of God.
Ellie was preceded in death by his parents Paulino and Carmen, sisters Helen Soriano, Betty Reed, and Teresita Soriano, and his first wife Clarita.  He is survived by his second wife MariaRita; they had just celebrated their 3 year anniversary this past May, 2 stepsons, sisters Lorina Sagisi, Lily Soriano, Jemima Zafiro, Myrna Acierto, Delia Noll, and Carmen Navarrete, brothers Gody, Edwin, Henry, and Nelson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

VISITATION

A visitation for Felino will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 4:00p.m. - 8:00p.m. with a rosary at 6:00p.m. at the Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, located at 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.

SERVICE

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 10:00a.m. at St. Joachim Catholic Church, located at 13392 E. Lockeford Ranch Road, Lockeford CA, 95237. The service will conclude at a graveside at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off of Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.

Wayne Shults

December 20, 1937 - May 29, 2019

Wayne Shults was born on December 20, 1937 in Pigeon Forge, TN., he passed away on May 29, 2019 at the age of 81. Wayne enjoyed playing a variety of sports in high school, some of which he was awarded trophies. He honorably served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force from January of 1956 to September of 1959. Wayne was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather, as well as a wonderful friend. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Doris Shults, his children Sande Ling (Margarito) and Lisa Medrano (John), as well as five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Darrin Sato

August 21, 1965 - May 28, 2019

Born on August 21, 1965 to Patsy and Akira Sato, Darrin A. Sato passed away on May 28, 2019 at the age of 53 due to complications from kidney disease. He is survived by his brother Derek (Lori) Sato and nephew Bryan Sato. Darrin was a lifelong resident of Stockton California. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, Darrin went to work for American Master Tech where he was a Product Manager until his passing. As an avid reader, friends and family knew that when you saw Darrin, a book was within reach. He was a dedicated Bay Area sports fan. His fondest memories were annual trips with his family to Lake Tahoe from his childhood until recent years.

SERVICE
A private family service and committal will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi. In honor of Darrin's love for his nephew, Bryan, donations in lieu of flowers or gifts can be made to the Del Norte Dolphins Swim Team or SkateMD, both in Sacramento.

Walter Saffold

08/25/1942 - 05/27/2019

Walter L. Saffold was born August 25, 1942, to the proud parents, Green Saffold Sr. and Gertrude Saffold, in Slater, Mississippi.  At the young age of 8 years old, Walter moved to Stockton with his parents, where he attended Monroe and Washington Elementary school and Edison Senior High, where he graduated in 1960. Walter played varsity football for Edison Senior High and received the MVP of the football team. 

On February 4, 1967, Walter married the love of his life and best friend, Doris, and they have celebrated 52 wonderful years of life together.  To their union they were blessed with three beautiful children, Lamar, LaMonte’ and Tara.

Walter served in the United States Army Reserve and then continued his career working for AT&T, in Stockton, Ca. and retired from the company after many years of devoted service.

 Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Progressive Community Church. Walter peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was abundantly loved by his family and everyone who knew him. Walter and his wonderful smile will be forever missed. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Green Sr. and Gertrude Saffold, his son Lamonte; his brothers Amos Saffold Sr., John Saffold and Green Saffold Jr.

 Walter Saffold leaves behind to cherish his memory,  his beloved and devoted wife Doris Saffold of Stockton, Ca; his son, Lamar (Dana) Saffold of Temecula, Ca; daughter, Tara Saffold of Sacramento, Ca; his siblings: Hosea Saffold Sr., Stockton,  Ca., Noah (Rosemary) Saffold Sr. , of Seaside, Ca., St. (Jackie) Saffold  of Sacramento,  Ca.; his sisters Gladys Crittendon of Union City, Ca., Catherine (Art) Taylor-Huffman of Stockton, Ca.; Marie Lee of Suisun,  Ca. ; Priscilla (Cornell) Harvell of Oakland Ca.; Sister in-law Terry (Chima) Chukwueke,  his 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces and a multitude of relatives and friends. 

VISITATION
There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, June 5th, 2019 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Vineyard Chapel in Cherokee Memorial Park, located at 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi CA, 95240.

SERVICE

Funeral and Celebration of Life services will be held in memory of Walter on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Progressive Community Church, located at 2820 South B Street, Stockton CA 95206, with Rev. Glenn Shields officiating.  Interment will follow in the at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off of Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA,95240.

Marion Anderson

09/12/1928 - 05/27/2019

Marion (Mary) Elaine Anderson passed away on May 27, 2019 at the age of 90. Mary was born to Oliver and Barbara Blighton in Grand View, Minnesota on September 12, 1928. Mary moved with her family at age 14 to Blythe, California where she met her future husband, Daniel Anderson. The family moved to Thornton, California where she married Daniel at age 17, and the two moved to Lodi, California.

Mary helped Daniel start and run the Lodi Door Inc. manufacturing company in 1955. They were married 25 years when Daniel died of a heart attack at age 43 on January 20, 1971. Mary stayed active in the business when it was owned and operated by her two sons, Dan and Larry. After the business was sold in 1983, Mary worked as an executive assistant for 10 years at Anderson Homes owned by her son Larry.

She met her partner of 28 years, Earl Derby, in 1990. Mary and Earl enjoyed life together in Oregon for 18 years and moved back to Lodi 6 years ago. Earl passed away on November 29, 2018.

Mary is preceded in death by Daniel and Earl and her 4 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by her 2 sons and their wives, Dan (Patty) Anderson, Larry (Georgeann) Anderson, four grandchildren, Jeff Anderson, Shelly Carr (Dion), James Anderson (Brandi), Michael Anderson (Ashleigh), and three great grand children.

Mary will be dearly missed by her immediate family and extended family of nieces and nephews and many friends who loved her dearly. Mary's family would like to thank the staff at Vienna Nursing Home for the excellent care she received during her stay there.
The family will celebrate her life with a private event.

Dorothy Bell

Dorothy Lorraine Bell, 85, passed away after a short illness surrounded by her family on May 26th, 2019 at Vienna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lodi, CA. She was born in Stockton, CA to parents: Melvin Oscar Weber and Madeline Dalton. Dorothy was raised on a farm in nearby Lockeford, CA. She graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1951. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker in the surrounding area. Dorothy was a devoted Mother and Grandmother who was always involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Though she didn't have any major hobbies we all knew how much she loved to watch her NASCAR races.
Dorothy was preceded in death by two of her children, Son: Timothy Ringer; Daughter: Sidney Martin. She is survived by her two other children, Son: James Ringer; Daughter: Sherrie Ringer (of Lodi). Dorothy also had 6 grandchildren; Patricia Druffel, Cindy Allen, Melissa Barroga, Lisa Dutra, Krisstina Harrell, and Jordan Martin, as well as 3 great-grandchildren.
Services for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, June 4th at 10 am in the Garden of the Trees at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi CA. Reception to follow at the Eagles Hall of Lodi, 217 E Lockeford St. Her loving presence will be missed.
