Catherine Juano

April 24, 1938 - April 26, 2020

Catherine Fidel Juano, a resident of the Morada area, died Sunday the 26th of April. She was born in 1938 in Santa Maria, California to Miguel Lopez and Erlinda Mallorga-Lopez. While attending San Joaquin Delta College she met the love of her life, Tom Juano her husband of 37 years. She was a very hard worker. She owned and managed the Delta Deli and Restaurant at the Don Quick / Marina Market. She later worked in the membership department at Costco for 11 years until she retired. While working she also managed the family's rental houses for over 40 years. Catherine loved good food and having large family gatherings at her home during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She loved a large Christmas tree and decorating the whole house. She was an amazing cook, relished cooking for the family, sitting around the dinner table enjoying the food, and having a great time. She cherished our family traditions of turkey tacos after Thanksgiving, crafting Christmas ornaments, making tamales, and many others. Catherine loved spending time with her cousins at the Mariachi concerts in Las Vegas or Reno with her cousin Cata, who was like a sister. She enjoyed her Jackson trips with her sister-in-law Louise Castoe and her luncheons with her grammar school "Cronies". She liked spending the evenings knitting and doing needle point. She was an avid reader of crime novels. Catherine loved living in Morada. She enjoyed spending time in her backyard reading, and taking naps in the hammock. Catherine was a wonderful mother to her 4 children; Tara Juano, Terrence Juano, Derric Juano, and preceded in death by Tisa Juano. She loved her 2 grandchildren Terra Juano and Christopher Juano.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, CA 95204.

The funeral service will be attended by immediate family only due to the Coronavirus restrictions. A celebration of life will be at a later date.

Eileen Tiede

April 22, 1932 - April 25, 2020

Eileen Ellen Tiede passed away suddenly Saturday, April 25th, 2020, just days after her 88th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Werner; son, Jason; and six siblings, with whom she is now reunited in heaven. Eileen was survived by her children, Tobie (Dennis), Kerry (Kim), and daughter-in-law Robin; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Eileen was born and raised in Linton, North Dakota, and moved to Lodi in 1950 to live with her aunt. She married Werner in 1952 and they established a successful life and family together.

Eileen was a well-respected interior designer for over 40 years and owned Eileen's Etc. in Lodi. She prided herself on her home, where she held numerous gatherings, holiday parties, and other events. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, particularly on their annual beach trips. She also took pleasure in cooking, gardening, sewing, playing games, and teaching her grandkids how to play a mean hand of Gin Rummy. Eileen was a force to be reckoned with - strong, talented, and outspoken. Her faith was displayed through her generosity in the community and her devotion to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Christine Renison

Mar. 11, 1929 – Apr. 19, 2020

Guistina “Christine” Renison passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home early Sunday morning, April 19, 2020 at the age of ninety-one. Christine was the third child born to Salvatore and Minnie Bambola on March 11, 1929 in Jamestown, New York. At the age of 12, Christine moved with her family to Lodi, California where she completed her education and subsequently gained employment at Farmers and Merchants Bank. It was during her late teen years that she met the love of her life, Jerry L. Renison. Jerry and Christine were married August 27, 1949 and together they raised three children. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary just prior to Jerry’s passing in 2011.

Christine was a dedicated wife and mother. She was a meticulous homemaker. Her greatest treasures were her family, friends, and church. She was a member of Christian Life Center in Stockton, California where she attended and served for 71 years. Christine had a servant’s heart and served her church in many areas of leadership and ministry as pianist, Ladies Auxiliary President, hospitality greeter, and choir vocalist. She served Christian Life College for many years in various ways including preparing weekly meals; serving her famous Italian spaghetti lunch to the students she loved so dearly.

Even in her final years with a challenging illness, her care givers and facility residents were recipients of her prayer, a gentle touch, a kind word, worship songs, unrestricted love, and unselfish giving. Her Godly influence touched hundreds of lives, as evidenced by a multitude of testimonials from individuals of all ages. She has transitioned to her heavenly home, but her legacy lives on through the lives of so many.

Christine is preceded in death by her late husband Jerry L. Renison, parents; Salvatore and Minnie Bambola, and siblings; Andy Bambola and Rose Powell. She is survived by her children; Joanne Gresham and husband Ralph, David Renison and wife Marjorie, Janet Brannon and husband Jim, grandchildren; Melanie Britt and husband Shane, Jeff Renison and wife Nikki, Tiphani Dillion and husband Dewayne, Mark Gresham and wife Jerica, Jerry Brannon and wife Danielle, Davina Yadon and husband Tony, Justin Brannon and wife Tamra, Alison Renison, Ashley Rodriguez and husband Ruben, brother; Chuck Bambola, and great-grandchildren; Hailey, Dewayne, Dee, Nicolas, Andrew, Dahlia, Shane David, Olivia, Shiloh, Gianna, Isabella, Sierra, Kamryn, Asher, Ava, Kallie, Tia, Logan, Harlow, Kallie, Mocha, Mia, Kaitlyn, Gideon, Gabrielle, and Kenna

Raymond Potts Hale

February 29, 1936 - April 18, 2020

After a lengthy illness, Raymond (“Ray”) Potts Hale passed away on April 18, 2020.  Born on February 29, 1936, he and his twin brother, Wayne, were born to the late Stafford and Mary Hale in Corinth, Mississippi.  He spent most of his childhood in Corinth before moving to Modesto, California.  Ray attended Downey High School where he excelled in track and field. 

After graduating high school, Ray attended Modesto Junior College and continued as a track and field athlete.  Ray earned a track scholarship and attended University of Southern California (USC).  He left USC to join the United States Air Force and served from 1957 through 1961.  During that time, he met his wife, Rebecca (“Becky”), whom he married in Marshall, Texas in 1959.  While living at Bossier Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, their first son was born.  After the military, he attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana as a History major and graduated in 1962.  While in his Master’s program at NSU, their second son was born.  After school, he took a job with Dial Finance Company in Shreveport, and their third son was born.

Following a job transfer opportunity in 1968, Ray and his family moved to Manteca, California.  Ray worked for Dial Finance Company until 1970, and relocated to Stockton, California to work for Northwestern Mutual.  His career as a life insurance agent spanned over 40 years, until his retirement in 2014.  During the 1977 and 1978 Track and Field seasons, he coached at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in Stockton, CA, and in 1978 had four track athletes qualify for the CIF State Meet.  For his superior athleticism in the sports of Cross Country and Track and Field, Ray was inducted into both the Downey High School Athletic Hall of Fame (1989) and the Modesto Junior College Athletic Hall of Fame (1998).  Ray’s high school mile time of 4:21 was the Valley Oak League meet record for 43 years.

Ray is predeceased by his father and mother Stafford and Mary, and his brothers (Wayne and Morris).  He is survived by his wife Becky of Stockton, CA, his sons and their spouses Randy (Girlie) of Lodi, CA, John of Stockton, CA, and Steven (Julie) of Stamford, CT, and his grandchildren and their spouses Sean, Katelyn, Kristen (Souhail Hlal), Sarah (Jeffrey Gilley), and Emily.  He is also survived by his sister Betty Laughlin of Corinth, MS, and several extended family members in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Billie Thalia Wheaton

November 20, 1926 - April 17, 2020

On April 17, 2020, Billie Thalia Wheaton (née Bratcher) passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 93 years of age. Billie was born in 1926 in Newcastle, Oklahoma to parents Thomas & Dovie Bratcher. When she was young, the family moved west and ultimately made a home in Stockton, California. In 1944, she married her late-husband John E. Wheaton and together, they raised six children.

She worked 32 years for Tri Valley Growers in a multitude of capacities from line supervisor to quality control. The last 17 years of her life were spent in Acampo, California where she could spend copious amounts of time with her family, tending to her flower gardens, quilting, and teaching her grandkids how to make her famous apple pie.

Billie, known affectionately as Mema by her grandchildren and all alike, was the quintessential matriarch. She was the epitome of strength, grace, and resilience.  Billie loved her family with fierce determination and impacted the lives of many. Anyone who knew her was better for it. 

Billie is preceded in death by her late-husband John E. Wheaton, siblings Vernon Bratcher, Pearl Parsons, Pauline Gryder, Opal Gryder, Thomas Bratcher, Harold Bratcher, and grandson Timothy Jones. She is survived by her children Billie Ann Jones, Gerrie Winstead, John Wheaton and wife Carmen, Yvonne Guthrie and husband Paul, Diana Wheaton, and Gwen Angoletta and husband Aldo. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as her siblings Mary McKee, Irv Bratcher, and Barbara Wardrobe.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of San Joaquin at HospiceSJ.org or the American Heart Association at Heart.org. Funeral and memorial services for Billie Thalia Wheaton will be a private, family only event.
