Gerald Gandt

November 26, 1934 - June 13, 2020

Gerald_W_Gandt_Obituary_Photo.jpg

Gerald William Gandt died in Lodi, CA on June 13, 2020 at age 85. Gerry is survived by his wife, Amelia Jane Klusendorf Gandt, and their three daughters: Ellen J. Gandt (Sarah Hall) of Boston MA, Megan Gandt Guansing (Alan Guansing) of Seattle WA, and Sarah E. Gandt of Lodi, CA.

Gerry was born in Cedarburg, WI on November 26, 1934 to Anita Irene Gandt and Hilbert W. “Hip” Gandt. He attended Shorewood and Cedarburg High Schools and graduated from Cedarburg High, where he excelled in academics and athletics (playing football, basketball, and baseball among other sports) in 1953.

With an academic scholarship and his athletic prowess, Gerry entered the University of Wisconsin-Madison that fall to study Economics and play football for the Badgers. A knee injury cut short his gridiron career but at the UW he had the good fortune to meet his future wife, Jane Klusendorf, of Barneveld, WI. They both graduated from the UW and were married in 1959. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children on an Alaskan cruise. They celebrated 60 years together on dry land, quietly, at home.

While in college, Gerry proudly served in ROTC and did his basic training at Ft. Benning in Georgia. He left the army in 1958 and continued to serve as a 1st Lieutenant in the Reserve for several years.

Gerry began his career in building manufacturing by joining Inland Steel Co. in Milwaukee, WI as a time study man. Over the course of his long career, Gerry occupied a variety of managerial roles, from General Manager to Vice-President. The family saw the U.S. as a result of his work and enjoyed living in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, and California. He retired from Varco Pruden Buildings in Turlock, CA in 1996.

Gerry was a lifelong athlete and sportsman—an avid cyclist, tennis player, hiker, camper, gardener, and fisherman. He was adept with tools and undertook major projects and improvements in each of the family’s homes. He was an excellent writer and took great pleasure in recording stories from life for his family and schoolmates at class reunions. He also shared interests with his daughters as he followed their lives and careers, focusing on a wide array of topics and activities: music, singing, and the harmonica, baking, rowing, dancing, playing bridge, traveling, and photography.

Gerry was loved by many and is deeply missed by his family and friends. As everyone who met him says, his smile could light up a room.

A memorial service will be held in spring 2021 at the White Church Cemetery in Barneveld, WI. Memorials can be sent to the University of Wisconsin-Madison Foundation https://secure.supportuw.org/give/ or to the United Congregational Christian Church of Lodi, 701 S. Hutchins St, Lodi CA 95240.

George Bauserman

October 16, 1938 - June 6, 2020

George was born October 16th, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. He went to his heavenly home June 6th, 2020 at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto. His family moved to California in 1945. He graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1956 and then attended Air Conditioning and Refrigeration trade school for 4 years. After graduating, he worked in his trade for 40 years, first as a journeyman and then becoming a superintendent. After his retirement, he worked for a consulting firm for two years.

He married Carol, his soulmate and best friend in 1961 and they were blessed with two sons, Michael (Pam) Bauserman and David (Lianne) Bauserman. He had four grandchildren, Jennifer Bauserman, Jessica (Nick) James, Jeffrey (Kc) Bauserman and Julianne Bauserman. He also had three great grandchildren, Ryan and Lily James and Everly Bauserman.

He is also survived by his brother, Bill (Marilyn) Bauserman and several nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, George and Victoria Bauserman and a nephew, Eric Bauserman.

George's favorite sport was basketball, and enjoyed both playing and watching. He played three days a week for 40 years and after he couldn't play any longer he became a bowler and played in a league up until the time he went into the hospital.
George's number one activity was being active in his church. He began at Temple Baptist (Grace Point) and more recently First Baptist. He enjoyed being active with the youth, putting on plays, serving on various boards, serving as a chairman for the Joint Heirs Class and many other areas.

His favorite "hobby" was helping his family and friends with "fixer upper" projects. He built our home in the country, remodeled kitchens, repaired household items, etc. He and Carol were blessed with being able to take many trips, several including special friends. Two trips were driving trips across the U.S., usually always finding friends or family along the way.

Our family will miss him so very much but we also know we will someday join him in heaven. At this time there will only be a family graveside service. Donations in his name can be made to First Baptist Church of Lodi.

Please leave your condolences below.

Irene Rhea

November 9, 1921 - June 5, 2020

Irene Rhea was born on November 9th, 1921, in Birch Tree, Missouri.  She was the second of eight children born to Frank and Jenny Ledbetter.  Irene was married on April 3, 1941, to the love of her life, Lloyd Rhea. After Lloyd left the Army following his honorable service in WWII, Lloyd and Irene lived in various states, finally settling in California in the 1950's.  Irene excelled at everything that she did. She worked to put her husband through business college and helped him when he started his own business, Best Roofing Company, in April of 1964, working until they retired in 1984.  Irene ran the office portion of the company, answering the phones and bookkeeping for the business, while raising their 3 children and being an excellent Homemaker.  Irene loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and will be remembered always for her delicious meals and wonderful desserts, that included her excellent homemade pies.  Irene also was an excellent seamstress, making dresses for her daughter and herself, as well as quilts and comforters.  Irene was the Head Room Mother in each of her 3 children’s classes in elementary school, making sure that there were always wonderful homemade cupcakes with her buttercream icing and other wonderful treats for each child in the class.  Along with her husband, Irene was very involved in baseball and the teams that he managed.  She was Secretary of the Little League and was the scorekeeper for her son’s Little League and Senior League baseball games, as well as her daughter’s softball games.  When summertime arrived, Irene would be out gathering fresh fruits and vegetables to can and freeze and make homemade pickles, jellies and jams for the family.  Irene played board games on the weekends, pairing up with her best friend, Marge, to play games of Aggravation against Lloyd and Marge's husband, Alfred. When Lloyd passed away in 1986, Irene became active in the First Baptist Church, cooking alongside her sister- in-law, Betty, for Wednesday night church suppers. Irene was an excellent Pinochle player and played 2 to 3 days a week at various homes and senior centers.  Irene was the light of her children’s lives, as well as her fur babies, Rocky, Socks and Gia.  To say that she will be missed does not capture the loss that they all feel.  The light has dimmed here on earth with her loss but continues to shine bright in eternity.
Irene is survived by her son Steven, of Williams, California, son James (Victoria) and daughter Carol (Mick), both of Stockton, California, her brother Frank (Delores), of Hermiston, Oregon, her grandchildren, Jason, Tiffany, Cole, Cory and Brannen, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and her best friend, Marjorie Benton.  Irene was pre-deceased by her husband Lloyd, parents Frank and Jenny, her 3 brothers, Lloyd, Edward, and Delmar, and 3 sisters, Edna, Lucille and Florence.

At Irene's request, no services will be held.
