Alice Irene Weisz Deutscher Wyatt of Lodi passed away early morning on December 2nd. A life lived well leaving an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her. She touched many lives through her membership in clubs, friendships, and as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother.
Alice was born to John and Christina Marie Weisz (Iszler) on July 28, 1926 in Lehr, North Dakota. She spent her early years in Lehr growing up on a farm helping tend to the animals and other daily chores with her siblings. She told stories about her life on the farm and how she enjoyed riding horses bareback. This speaks to her beautiful spirit and zest for life that was undeniable. Later she met and married her husband Harry Deutscher in Streeter, North Dakota. They married in 1946 and had six children together moving from North Dakota, to Montana and eventually settling in California. She was a devoted and loving mother raising her children on her own and working hard to provide for them. Being resourceful she canned fruits and sewed clothing and even cut her children’s hair. She worked as a waitress for over 30 years always greeting her customers with a big smile. Alice was an excellent cook and loved preparing German dishes and deserts for her children and later for her grandchildren. She possessed an incredible strength and positive outlook on life. For her, family was everything!
In 1968 she met Cortez J. Wyatt in the restaurant where she worked. After a courtship they married and enjoyed life together traveling all over the U.S. in their motor home. Alice loved traveling and sightseeing. She had a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature and loved every opportunity she had to pack her bags and go on another adventure.
Other hobbies included square dancing and reading. As Alice’s family grew her love for them did too. She loved her son-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She had a tremendous energy for life and lived it to the fullest. She embodied a true spirit of living life in the moment. Any one who knew her knew that she did not let the grass grow under her feet.
She belonged to and participated in several organizations over the years including the Moose Lodge, Dakota Club, Emblem Club, Women’s Club, and The Loel Senior Center where she volunteered helping with the monthly news letter, as well as exercised and socialized with the members. She was a woman of devout faith as a member of Lodi First United Methodist Church attending services for many years. It was her strong faith in the Lord that helped her through difficult and challenging times.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Patricia Sherman (Dave), Cheryl Bertsch (Tim), Sharon Frame (Dean), Dennis Deutscher Sr., Janel Graffigna (Pete); her grandchildren Lisa Mayfield (Steve), Dina Ballard (Brandon), Dennis Deutscher Jr. (Marlo), Kevin Warnecke (Michelle), Laree Arreola (Victor), Krissy Knutson (Kevin), Danny Frame (Heather), Brett Graffigna (Chantal), Jeff Bertsch (Ladawn), Julie Biondi; great grand children Garret, Brannon (Cetara), Logan, Blake (Katie), Karli, Savanna (Tyler), Sophia, Aiven, Ivey, Lauren, Breanna, Jake, Carter, Kylee, Katelyn, Kiersten, Colton, Jubilee, Dylan, Cassidy, Madison, Zackary, Austyn; great great grandchildren Avri, Chloe, Bodhi; her brother Ray Weisz (Tippy), sister-in-law Bernice Weisz; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cortez J. Wyatt, Harry Deutscher; son Bruce P. Deutscher; grandson Troy Graffigna; brothers Ervin Weisz and Milton Weisz, sisters Edna Buck and Averna Kubler.
She will be missed by all.

Stockton native Jessie G. Hannay passed away at home on November 28, 2020, two months after her 100th birthday.
Jessie was born and raised in Stockton, where she received a BA in Education from College of the Pacific and embarked upon a career as an elementary school teacher. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Columbia University and taught in both San Francisco and Daly City. At her home at Plymouth Square in Stockton, Jessie (a life-long Methodist) enjoyed playing the piano for religious services. Jessie was a big fan of pets, especially cats. She had pets almost all her life, and her cat “Dickens” was instrumental in encouraging Jessie to recover from illness several years ago. Jessie was the much beloved Best Aunt Ever to her five nieces, who certainly knew how lucky they were to have her. She (all by herself) even braved taking all five of them to Disneyland when they were young children. What aunt would take that on! Jessie was recently honored when her great-grandnephew was named after her: Lucas Jesse McCray. Jessie couldn’t have been prouder. She was an absolutely wonderful woman who was cherished by many! She will be missed.
Jessie is survived by her five nieces Kathryn Hannay (husband Tom McCray), Adriane Antonelli (husband Robert), Dustyn, Anne Cammack (husband Michael) and Alison Grey (husband Roger), as well as by her 7 great- and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Hannay Family.

Jose G. Fonseca was born in Redwood City, California. He was the youngest of five children born to Jesus and Maria Dolores Fonseca. The family moved to Stockton in 1973 and then to Acampo in 1991 where he lived until his passing at age 60. He was preceded in death by his loving parents; he is survived by his son, Christopher Pratt of Leavenworth, Wa., and siblings, Maria Fonseca-Cole (John) of Redwood City, Ca., Jess Fonseca of Minden Nv., Teresa Fonseca-Schmidt (Dennis) of Galt, Ca., and Luis Fonseca of Acampo, Ca.
His dream was always to live in the country and that dream was realized in 1991. He loved working outdoors with his hands, fixing small machines, equipment, and vehicles. He also enjoyed carving wood, drawing, word puzzles, helping his neighbors, and watching classic movies. We recently nicknamed him "show tunes" for his tendency to hum tunes from those classics he loved to watch.
The highlight of Jose's year was deer season hunting trips with brothers, Jess and Luie and cousins, Joseph and Carlos. Yearly deer season hunting trips is a tradition started by his dad, Jesus, in the early 1960's ; as each son got old enough for gun safety and hunting license classes, the initiation into the sport of deer hunting began. Over the years, the group of "hunters" grew to include Jose's son, Chris, and other "good time loving" relatives and friends. We knew they all had a great time but they would never admit to exactly what that "great time" was. We can only imagine and Jose for one, kept their secrets.
Jose loved his family, family parties, and mariachi music. He loved his nieces, nephews, and great nephews alike, but, he had a special place in his heart for his nieces Candida, Christina, Gabriela, Maria, Marian, and Emma. A true lover of the outdoors, he was pleased that his family loved camping and fishing. In June 2019, he was able to attend a family campout and what fun it was to have him with us. While the rest of us would show Jose pictures of trout we caught on other trips which he would look at rather skeptically (in a loving way of course), it was the pictures that Marian shared of her hunts that really caught his attention.
Just as Jose loved his family, his family loved him. He was funny and made us laugh and smile, but more than that, he was generous, caring, a good listener, and a beloved son, father, and brother. We can't put into words how much he will be missed by us all. Jose bravely faced his health issues over the last three years. We almost lost him last December but the good Lord decided to bless us with a miracle and leave him in our care for almost another year. What an incredible gift to have been given that opportunity.
Thank you Luie, for having cared for Jose every day with love and a sense of humor that lightened his spirit. You and Jose shared a bond that cannot be broken even though he is no longer physically with us. He loved you as you will always love him. Thank you to Dr. Victor Rodriguez and the UCD Medical Center CTICU staff for the selfless, tireless, exceptional, and compassionate care provided to Jose.
Jose, hermanito, may you rest in peace with our Lord Jesus Christ. We love you.
