Nadyne Phyllis Sessions

November 25, 1924 - January 27, 2021

On January 27, 2021, Nadyne P. Sessions made her Peaceful Heavenly journey home held tightly in the arms of her daughter Renee; surrounded by her son-in-law Marc, her grandson Brandon & wife Mallory, and her sister-in-law Kathryn Hardy.

Nadyne was born to Clarence A. Hardy and Lula Blanche O’Brian on November 25, 1924 in Little River, Kansas.

Nadyne, after graduating from Stockton High School in 1943, went directly to work for Bank of America where she worked until the birth of her daughter Renee in 1952. She met her handsome Airforce Pilot, LaVor Sessions, stationed at Stockton Field in 1945, on a blind date. Love blossomed and they were married on March 31, 1946. They were lovingly married for 60 years.

Nadyne became a full time homemaker and was actively involved in her community. While Renee was attending school she participated in all of the Waterloo and Linden community activities, fund raisers, spaghetti feeds, cookie sales, Whist Card Parties, Fashion Shows, PTA, 4H and Rainbow for girls. She was an active member in Linden Order of Eastern Star and a member of Stockton Covenant Church. Nadyne enjoyed accompanying her husband, LaVor to all the Linden Lion Club social gatherings. She was an ardent San Francisco Giants fan and knew most of the players by name. In her twilight years she thoroughly enjoyed the Girls Canasta Group and their monthly birthday lunches.

Besides her loving husband and daughter, her Pride and Joy was her Grandson, Brandon. “Nana” as Brandon called her became an integral part of his life. She was known to be “the Fetcher” when she baseball with Brandon and his young friends, in their backyard. Papa pitched, Nana fetched. It was quite the Team. Along with Papa, Nana attended all of Brandon’s school sports and musical activities throughout his life. Her proudest moment was when she regally walked on Brandon’s arm down the aisle at his wedding, February 22, 2020. She was the Queen escorted by her beloved “Little Prince” on his memorable day.

The family would like to thank mom’s caregivers and the Hospice of San Joaquin Staff for their efficient and loving care. To our loving friends we thank you for your continued prayers and emotional support during this difficult time. To her dearest friends, she thanks you for a lifetime of friendships.

Donna Gedda

August 13, 1934 - January 25, 2021

Donna Gedda was born in August, 1934, and passed away on January 25th, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Neil, who proposed to her via phone, as she headed to Germany to teach for a year. Donna loved being a teacher and instilled the love of reading in countless children, including her cousin Marilyn's children and grandchildren. Christmas would not have been Christmas without the gifts of Scholastic books or Lady Bug magazine from Donna and Neil.
Donna and Neil spent summers traveling the world and taking road trips around California and Washington but they also treasured their time at home in Lodi. They were huge USC football fans, attending games with a group of like-minded friends. After they retired, Donna and Neil traveled even more but made time to volunteer at their local school, helping children to learn to read. Donna missed Neil tremendously after he died in 2010, but she kept busy by continuing to host and visit her family in Washington, traveling with family and friends, serving as president of her neighborhood's home owners' association and volunteering at the local library.

Donna was a wonderful cook whose fridge was never without a fresh batch of fudge. She set a beautiful table, always with the good China, napkin rings and candles. The children, as well as the adults, loved Happy Hour, which preceded each dinner and included hors d'oeuvres, homemade lemonade, great conversation and laughter.

Donna is survived by her brother, Walter Ohm and his daughter, a cousin Marilyn Hueffed (Jerry) and Marilyn and Jerry's children and grandchildren. We are thankful for the care given to her by the staff at Brookdale, Kettleman Lane. We will all miss Donna- her love, energy, zest for life, her positive attitude and her stories. No service at her request. We ask that you read a book to a child in her memory.

Please leave your condolences below.

Alma Silver

August 18, 1927 - January 25, 2021

Alma Louise ("Lou") Silver passed away Monday, January 25, at the age of 93, of natural causes. She had lived at O'Connor Woods since 2004, and was in hospice there for her final weeks. Due to the attentive care that Lou received at O'Connor Woods, for which her family will always be grateful, she was able to avoid the Covid-19 virus.

Born in Fanshawe, Oklahoma in 1927, Lou came to California after the Dust Bowl. Her family made the trip in a pickup truck, with Lou and her three sisters riding in the truck's bed.

Lou met her loving husband Richard "Dick" Silver while working as a carhop at a drive-in, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage, raising three children and traveling extensively until Dick's passing in 2004. Lou worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell, and as a receptionist for the San Joaquin County Probation Department.

Lou went through life with a joy that was contagious to those around her. Her favorite time of year was spring. She once wrote "The earth is waking up with colorful flowers, trees are budding, birds sing. It seems more like a new year than January to me." Lou also found humor in many situations.
She enjoyed bowling, line-dancing, emailing jokes and advice, and Elvis impersonators well into her eighties and nineties, and along with Dick, volunteered with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors (S.T.A.R.S.). The two also participated in many overseas trips where they helped build churches for underserved communities.

Her children and grandchildren remember her as a devoted mother and grandmother, devout Baptist, Blue Bird Leader and room mother, fastidious dresser, fierce Scrabble player who showed no mercy to children, and a constant provider of encouragement, Fudgesicles and 50/50 bars.

Lou is survived by her sister Virble "Kathy" Yeadon, of San Jose, her three children, Richard "Ben" Silver, Marianne DeDios, and Patricia Dias, of Stockton, and multiple grandchildren residing in California, Hawaii, Idaho, and Virginia.

As an adult, he made gun stocks as a hobby, and for sale. He also painted and sold oil and acrylic landscapes, winning ribbons at the Lodi Art Center and Grape Festival Shows in Lodi. He became an accomplished digital photographer in his retirement years.

Richard graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, CA, while working summers at Tri- Valley Cannery. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from UC Berkeley, where he was a member of the Chi Psi Fraternity. He also attended Humphreys College Laurence Drivon School of Law, in Stockton, CA.

Richard loved his country and was discharged honorably with a decoration as a Sharpshooter from the Modesto, CA unit of the U.S. Army National Guard.
