Janet Lundy

October 11, 1926 - December 19, 2021

Janet Irene Wilcox Lundy passed away peacefully on December 19, 2021 at the age of 95 in Lodi, CA. She joins her beloved husband, Ronald, who preceded her in death 26 years earlier.

She was born in St. Paul, MN and spent her early years in St. Croix Falls, WI. Her primary school days were in Ashland, OR and High School in Eugene, OR. While in High School, she met her future husband, Ronald Lundy. He shipped out to the Philippines at the end of the war, VJ day occurring while underway. Janet attended Wheaton College in Illinois, studying music. One of the highlights of the time there was singing for the Billy Graham Evangelistic crusades as the soprano member of a women’s quartet.

She married Ronald in Eugene in 1946 after he returned. They were married for 49 years. Ronald was the love of her life. She said the “marrying Ron was the best decision I ever made.” While in Eugene they began their family. They soon moved to Chicago, IL where he attended Seminary. After his graduation they moved to Cody, WY where Ron accepted his first pastorate and she supported him as a pastor's wife. This involved many responsibilities as directing choirs, singing in church, provided leadership in the Sunday School & Vacation Bible School, and providing immeasurable help to her husband. One summer she served as Chief Cook for a Summer camp with more than 100 youth campers on wood-burning stoves! They moved to Bend, OR for eleven years and then returned to her home town, Eugene, for several years.

She enjoyed being close to be near her mother while in Eugene. They then moved to Stockton where Ron was pastor of Calvary Baptist Church (now The Bridge) were there for 14 years. She enjoyed many good friends from this church family. After her husband retired, they became active at Temple Baptist Church (now Gracepoint) where she was active and had many dear friends as well. She had a great marriage with her beloved husband for 49 years. More recently she lived in Arbor Senior Apartments and Arbor Place Assisted Living. Staff at Arbor Place said that her smile was warming and that she brought joy to their lives. She showed great independence learning how to drive with her left hand and left foot after a stroke partially paralyzed her right side. She rarely complained and was a very positive person. A joy to be around.

Janet is survived by her five children, David Lundy, Debby Walker, Dan (Cheryl) Lundy, Doug (Darlene) Lundy, Dawn (David) Morrow, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Lundy, her parents, Sylvanus Wilcox and Ruth McCourt Wilcox, and by her son-in-law Clayton Walker, the husband of Debby.

A graveside service is scheduled for January 15th at 1 PM at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery in Lodi, CA.

She is sorely missed by those who knew her and loved her. She is now at home with her Savior and with her husband in glory.
