Kathleen Scheideman

November 14, 1926 - January 03, 2022

Mrs. Kathleen Louise Scheideman, longtime resident of Lodi, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, January 3, 2022. Daughter of Edward and Mabel (Slater) Harrigan, Kathleen was born on November 14, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan. In the 1930s, when she was still a young girl, her family moved to El Centro, California. In 1947, while attending Pacific Union College in Angwin, she married George Scheideman of Lodi. The family lived on Stockton St. before settling in 1958 in the home on Lodi Ave where George and Kathleen lived the rest of their lives. They were longtime members of the Fairmont SDA Church, and she volunteered for many years at Lodi Memorial Hospital.

Kathleen is survived by daughter Candace Hadley and husband Dr. Dean Hadley of Redlands, son George D. Scheideman III and husband Thomas Chatt of Los Angeles, son-in-law Kenneth Meyers of Lodi; granddaughter Dr. Allison Hadley and husband Nathan Shultz of Portland, Oregon, grandson Dr. Zachary Hadley and wife Dr. Tiffany Hadley of Redlands; five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years George D. Scheideman, daughter Linda Meyers, and sister Ione Hunt.

Vicki Lynn Lagorio

May 24, 1959 – December 3, 2021


With a heavy heart, we share the passing of Vicki Lynn Lagorio, who passed away on Friday,
December 3, 2021, at the young age of 62. Vicki spent her last moments surrounded by the
loving embrace of her family and husband, Brian.

Vicki was born and raised in Lodi, Ca, where she lived with her mother, Eileen Burcham. After
graduating from Stagg High School, she went to work for the Bank of America, which became
the start of her incredible journey.

Vicki met Brian while on a blind date in November 1989, which ignited their love. It wasn’t long
after that the two married at the Carson Valley Inn on December 1st, 1990. They created a
wonderful life full of love and memories in Linden and eventually retired in Minden, Nevada,
near where they said there I dos to one another.

Vicki worked for American Ag Credit for over 27 years, retiring as Head of Regional Operations.
She took tremendous pride in her career and devoted her heart and soul into everything she
did. She was a mentor to many, and her loss will be felt by all who worked with her. Vicki was many things in her life: an adventurer, a free spirit, a fighter, and a friend to all. Most importantly, she was a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and a proud grandmother. She was a kind and loving soul. Those who knew her described her as passionate, determined, and faithful. You could find her outdoors or traveling when not at home or work. She was an avid hiker that enjoyed being by the water more than anything. She enjoyed reading and relaxing at home, simply knowing that she was with Brian and he was with her. She was a simple woman who didn’t need much to fuel her happiness.

Vicki’s faith in Jesus kept her grounded and sustained her throughout her fight with cancer. She is preceded in death by her father, Victor Delu. She is survived by her mother, Eileen Burcham, her husband Brian Lagorio, sons James with wife Bernadette, Josef, and her grandchildren Jack and Lyra.

SERVICES:
Vicki’s memorial service will be held on February 26th, 2022, at 10:00 am at Cherokee Memorial
Park, Vineyard Chapel, 14165 N. Beckman Rd. Lodi, CA, (209) 334-9613.

Following the services, there will be a Celebration of Life at the Italian Athletic Club from 11:30 am at 3541 Cherryland Ave, Stockton, CA.

The memorial service will also be live-streamed for those whocannot attend in person.

Joaquin County Farm Bureau in any amount for an annual scholarship for Agricultural-bound

David Robertson

February 14, 1952 - December 31, 2021

On December 31, 2021 David Robertson, beloved husband, father, and friend passed into the Kingdom of the Lord at the age of 69, after a long courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

David was born on February 14, 1952 in Merced, California to Edward and Millie Robertson. Growing up in Cathey's Valley, David enjoyed competing in the rodeo events, team roping and bulldogging, as well as working on his parent's ranch. David found his true calling when he went to work for Stagi & Scriven in the San Joaquin Delta. On June 18, 1977, David married the love of his life, Leisha Walker, in Yosemite National Park. Together, they raised a son Edward in Stockton and later moved to Linden.

David and Leisha formed D&L Farms and farmed on many Islands in the Delta, primarily Bacon Island. David quickly gained the respect of his peers as a hardworking and innovative farmer. David was always quick to lend a hand or a piece of equipment to another farmer in need. He was loved and respected by his employees due to his kind and thoughtful nature. As his business grew with the help of his foreman and friend Jose Gutierrez Jr. (Junior) his love of farming never wavered. He took pride in his work, and often said, "I'm lucky, there is nothing else in life that I'd rather do for a living than farm."

David found another passion late in life-- jeeping. David purchased a share of the Rubicon Soda Springs ownership group. Together, with longtime family friend, Mickie Cecchini, they proved a formidable duo to the trails from the mountains of the Sierra Nevada to the red rock peaks of southeastern Utah, making countless friends along the way in the jeeping community.

Through it all, David, remained a dedicated husband, father, and friend. David's family always remained his paramount priority and provided inspiration for his endless drive.

David was preceded in death by his father, Edward, and his mother, Millie. He is survived by his wife Leisha; his son, Edward; sister Carolyn Higgins (Michael); nephew Jeremy Higgins; and countless friends, family, and valued employees.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, January 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of Freedom located at Cherokee Memorial Cemetery, 14165 N. Beckman Road, Lodi. A luncheon/reception will be held immediately following at the Waterloo Gun and Bocce Club, 4343 N. Ashley Lane, Stockton.

Gary Shieler

July 31, 1942 - December 30, 2021

Gary was born at his grandparents home in Oakhill, West Virginia. He was the second child born to his mother. He loved spending his youth on the family homestead and got into constant shenanigans, including burning down the barn accidentally while playing cowboys with his cousins and uncles.

His teen years were spent in California where he developed his life long obsession with classic cars. “Cruising the strip” was how he spent his weekends. In the future he would tell his children what a crazy party animal he was but they would just roll their eyes.

When Gary met his wife Susan everything changed. He then morphed into one of his favorite things in the world, being a husband and father. He was a bit of a romantic frequently buying flowers and writing poems for Susan. He was an affectionate, loving , protective and patient father who always put his children first. He would go without so that his children could have a special treat. His joy would overflow when he became a grandfather in 2003.

Gary was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1972 and served as an elder for 15 years. During that time he had the privilege of baptizing many others at the circuit assembly, including his daughter in 1984.

There was no doubt that Gary loved life. He loved to laugh, enjoy nature, and spend time talking to people even if they were strangers. He was stubborn and strong and loved to negotiate. As long as he got something free out of the deal it was a win for him.

Although, he was troubled with health issues later in life, he always tried to find enjoyment in things. He knew that he would be young and vibrant again when “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4

A memorial will be held on zoom Wednesday January 15, 2022 at 3:00 pm PST.

Hanae Watanabe

June 09, 1923 - December 29, 2021

Hanae June Watanabe, age 98 passed away on Dec. 29, 2021. She was born on June 9, 1923 in Stockton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matsujiro and Haruye Kato; her husband of 41 years, Yutaka Watanabe; brothers Masanori Kato, Masao Kato, Masayoshi Kato, and Koomei Kato and sisters, Shizue Ito and Yoshie Nagata.

She attended August School and Stockton High School. She graduated from high school in 1943 while incarcerated with her family at Tule Lake, where she worked as a Nurse's Aid. At the end of World War II, the Kato family returned to Lodi. There, she met her future husband, Yutaka Watanabe. The couple moved to Stockton, where they were married on March 27, 1948.

Hanae was lovingly called "He-Bachan," by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which in Japanese means Great Grandmother.

She enjoyed coin collecting and Princess Diana memorabilia. She loved her weekly dinner and Rummikub game nights at her daughter and son-in-law's house. She always remembered all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's birthdays.

Hanae was a devoted member of the Stockton Buddhist Temple, where she was active with the Tomo No Kai, Adult Buddhist Association, Aichi Shinboku Kai, and Stockton Women's Buddhist Association. She also enjoyed her weekly Craft Day at the church on Tuesday's with her friends.

She is survived by her sister, Teruko Sato, and sisters in law, Wanda Kato and Haruyo Kato, brothers in law, Jim Watanabe, and Takashi (Anne) Watanabe.

Hanae is also survived by her children: Jean Carter, George Watanabe, (Judy), Barbara Takemoto (Stephen), Ruby Yamada (Harold), grandchildren: Mariko Park (Eugene), Stephanie Moyer (Tim), Kori Carter (Kim), Craig Takemoto, Jennifer Haynes (Ken), and Kevin Yamada (Melanie), great grandchildren: Arlynn & Aydenn Moeun, Emiko, Blake, & Benjamin Moyer, Nicholas Takemoto, Keiko Haynes, Keona Park, and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hospice of San Joaquin for their loving care and support of our mom during her last days.

Danell Merck

August 11, 1971 - December 29, 2021

On Dec. 29, 2021 the world lost an incredible human being. Danell “Dani” Merck, 50, went to be with the Lord she loved so much after courageously fighting cancer for 16 years. Before she left, she let her husband and son, Steve and Joey, know, unequivocally, how much she loved them.

What a gift and inspiration she was for all as she fought her cancer. She became known as “Wonder Woman” by those who came in contact with her and deservedly so. She earned that nickname every day that she was on this earth. A huge void will be left in her wake, but all who knew her were privileged to see her fight cancer with dignity, poise, and even fun. Many remember her catch phrase “Whoo Hoo!” She left an indelible mark upon all she touched. One of her favorite plaques in her home said, “I Think I’ll Just Be Happy Today.” She lived her life that way.

She is survived by her husband Steve, son Joey, parents Tim and Nelda Mataczynski, parents-in- law Don and Pat Merck, brother Duane Mataczynski (Shannon), brothers-in-law David and Daniel (Gloria), sister-in-law Nora Hoffman (Rob), Aunt Ann Marie “D.D.” Mataczynski, Uncle Dale (Suzanne) Bensen, nephew Connor Mataczynski, and nieces Zoe, Jenna, Eliana, and Natalia Merck. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Louis and Judy Mataczynski and Sverre and Marzella Bensen.

Inurnment for family only will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi on January 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Raymund Sapasap

July 22, 1988 - December 26, 2021

Our dearest, Raymund Dave Colis Sapasap, 33, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Raymund, commonly known by friends as Ray, graduated from CSU Sacramento in 2015 with a concentration in Kinesiology. 

He was a car and Marvel aficionado. He loved his family and friends. An anchor. A comedian. Down to earth, kind hearted and reliable. These were all words and phrases that his loved one used when asked to describe him. He was kind, charismatic and friendly to all. 

Raymund is survived by his mother, Bessie; brother, Ronnel Jake; sisters Ruby (Randy) and Rachel. His niece, Cameryn Elani, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. 

He is preceded in death by his father, Rolando Sapasap (2009); paternal grandparents Leocadio (2014) and Emilia (2009) Sapasap and maternal grandparents Simplicio (2019) and Buena (2021) Colis. 

To Raymund, our son, brother, family and friend, may you Rest In Peace. We love and will miss you, until we meet again.
