Earla Ellen Bowline

November 8, 1943 - November 12, 2022

Earla Ellen Bowline was born November 8, 1943 in Lodi, California to Edward “Mutts” and Ragna Todresic. She grew up in Stockton, California attending local schools and graduating from Amos Alonzo Stagg High School in 1961.

Earla married Roger Bowline in August 1961, and began a loving married life that spanned more than 61 years. She was Mother to three children: Gregory(Kandi), Sandra(Eric Brown), and Sharon(Lance Crouch; Grandmother to eight:Nicole, Derek(Estafani), Aaron(Michelle), Lauren(Vincent), Janelle(Derek), Garret(Tia-Fiancee), Noah(Abby), and Shelby; and Great Grandmother to seven plus one to be born: Jacob, Ethan, Hayley, Ryan, Bradley, Melanie Anita, and Adelaide.

Earla encouraged her husband in both an accounting career and later in ministry and pastoring of several churches in California. Earla taught children as a teacher’s aide in both public and private schools and worked as a caregiver to several in need of personal care. Earla and Roger returned to the Stockton area in 1999 to care for their Mothers who had suffered strokes and rejoined the church where their work for the Lord has begun.

She was active in Children’s teaching and Ladies’ ministries throughout the state. Earla was known for her smile, and love of her family. She often stated that she has a “Wonderful Family” as suggested by a stranger listening to her speak of her family.. She is already missed by the family and friends who have learned of her passing.

Heather Lira

December 8, 1942 - November 12, 2022

Heather Ann Lira, age 79 of Stockton, California passed away on November 12th, 2022. Heather Ann Clennell was born on December 8th, 1942 to her parents, who proceeded her in death, Jean Francis Clennell and Janice Ann Taylor(Clennell). Heather graduated from Presentation High School in San Francisco, California. Heather moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and married James Richard Dixon. She then moved to Pacifica where she raised four children and two foster children. After her divorce, she lived in San Bruno and worked as a school bus driver, San Mateo where she worked as a laborer for Merck Chemical Company, San Jose where she assembled Army tanks for FMC, Milpitas where she married her second husband Richard Lira. Heather divorced and moved to Rancho Cordova where she became a foster mother and worked as a CNA and security for Hewlett Packard. Heather then moved to Somerset where she built her dream home and raised Foster children, and Stockton where she lived for the remainder of her life.

Heather is preceded In death by her son Rod Richard Xavier Dixon, Grandson Shamar Charlie Barbary, and he Granddaughter Heather Sheree Dixon.

Heather is survived by her daughters Menon Sheree Dixon and Shauna Jean Zavala(Anthony), son Reed Blaise Dixon Sr., her grandchildren Nichole Dixon, Natasha Fitzgerald, Reed Dixon Jr., Erian Perez, Erica Fitzgerald, Rod Dixon Jr., Reshaun Barbary, Destinee Dixon, Eric Dixon, and many great-grandchildren.

David Brown

May 8, 1952 - November 12, 2022

David Warren Brown (Hawk on Head) of Lodi, CA, passed away on November 12, 2022 at age 70. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK to Jacob Milton Brown (Oglala Lakota) and Alma Bruce Martin Brown (Muscogee) on May 8, 1952. Services will be at 11AM on Thursday, December 8 at Lakepointe Church, Rockwall, TX.

David grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas, and attending Sunset High School. He married Paula Duke (Kilgore) in 1974 and started a family right away, identical twins Jessica and Jennifer, and son Jacob. He held several basic jobs such as Jack Duke’s Ye Ole Butcher Shop and Barry Rhodes Surveying. But his main focus was to pursue his dreams as a musician.

While at Sunset, he was a member of the Musicians’ Guild founded by Robert Ware. Throughout high school and afterwards, David played in several bands, including a band call Meat with his old friend, Stevie Ray Vaughan to play in the Battle of the Bands. In 1973, Barry Rhodes (from Sounds INC, a 60’s Rock Band) asked David and Joe Morale (well-known guitarist of East Tx) to join a new band called Texas Rock. They opened for national acts and played big clubs in Texas and Oklahome. He also played at two Oak Cliff Reunion Concerts organized by Christian Brooks, the last one featured his old friend Stevie Ray Vaughn. After 13 years with Texas Rock, David pursued a solo career playing the Blues.

He creatively integrated his Native heritage in his creative pursuits with a mindful respect of tradition. In the mid-1980’s, the Brown family danced at the American Indian Days at the Texas State Fair while David performed the Blues. He debuted his Brownhawk Band in 1990. Later, he was a guitar instructor to aspiring students.

David and his beloved Pamela Reneau moved to Lodi, CA in 2002 where he made new friends in the music scene and jammed with No Border Blues, Double D and other local groups.

He was a performer and soulful musician with a magnetic personality, positive spirit and unforgettable stage presence. His relentless optimism and talented gifts made a dramatic impression on everyone he met.

Quoting his dear friend Chuck Flores, “may your thoughts of David bring not tears, but smiles and laughter.” He will be missed.

Survivors include his dearly beloved, Pam Reneau, her son Jeremy, and family dog Haley; daughters Jennifer Brown Hebert and husband Brian, and Jessica Brown McKinney and her husband Chris; sister Anita Brown Rodriguez and husband Dave (DR), sister Alice Brown; sister-in-laws Kathy Brown and Roseanne Brown; brother-in-law Ike Harden. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Sylvia Rodriguez, Daphne Feyrer and husband Zack, Jason Brown, Kimberly Rodriguez, Robert Brown, Ashlea Taber and husband Jon, Diana Cournoyer and husband Gerald Cournoyer, Brian Rhodes and wife Jennifer Rhodes, Carity Wesson, Brandon Harden, James Harden, Tara Brown; great nieces and nephews: Yuma Morris, Lauren Barriner, Holly Brummet, Rachel Cady, Erica Cady, Nicole Cournoyer, Kyle Harden, Nora Harden, James Harden, Alex Taber, Chance Taber, Vince Taber, Mikayla Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes, Jace Rhodes, Autumn Watson, Phillip Brown, William Brown, Liam Rhodes.

David is preceded in death by his son, Jacob Matthew Brown; father Jacob Milton Brown and mother Alma Bruce Martin Brown; siblings Fred Brown, Beth Harden, Bruce Brown, Kenny Brown; nephew Steve Brown and niece Jayne Brown.

Carl A. DeLuce, Jr.

January 17, 1937 - November 10, 2022

Carl A. DeLuce Jr. of Woodbridge, California, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2022.

Born in Pennsylvania on January 17, 1937, Carl was the beloved only child of parents Mary DeLuce (1910-2009) and Carl DeLuce Sr. (1905-1997). Like many Italian-Americans after the Depression and before the end of WWII, the DeLuce’s were on a quest for more opportunities, and the family made the decision to relocate to California. They settled in Woodbridge where they called home for the rest of their lives.

From 1960-1962 Carl served in the United States Army as an Honor Guard stationed in Arlington, Virginia. His career path included joining his father in the family’s paint contractor business, but his undeniable love was the stock market, and he spent the majority of his life investing.

Carl was a dear father to his son Tony DeLuce of Los Angeles, California and his daughter Jill DeLuce of Phoenix, Arizona.

Notable was his keen sense of humor and passion for sharing his knowledge about the stock market with family and friends. Carl enjoyed an afternoon at the horse races or at a poker table in Jackson. He will be greatly missed by his children and handful of dear

friends.

Carl was a private man and per his request, there will be no public funeral or memorial service. He will be laid to rest alongside his parents in the Last Supper Mausoleum at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, California.

June Guerrero

June 5, 1932 - November 10, 2022

June Guerrero, 90, passed away November 10, 2022, with family by her side.

June is survived by her loving husband, of 71 years, Paul J. Guerrero. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses; Paul Guerrero, John Guerrero and his wife Lyn, Nancy Fuller and her husband Tim, Mike Guerrero; her four grandchildren, Nicole Sellers and her husband Greg, Scott Guerrero, Shawn Guerrero, Marcus Guerrero; and her five great-grandchildren; Mariana Lopez, Kristian Sellers, Nathan Sellers, Richard Lopez, and Devan Sellers.

June was a caring and devoted Mother to her children and Grandmother to her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

Hazel Towne-Parkerson

May 7, 1940 - November 10, 2022

Hazel Geraldine Towne – Parkerson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 82.  Hazel was the second child born to her parents Lawrence and Helen Towne on May 7, 1940, in Mancos, Colorado.

In the late 40’s her parents moved to California where she was raised in the Central Valley. She later moved to Eureka where she met her first husband Bud Nees and they had a daughter Lona. 

In 1960 she remarried, Clyde Carlile, and together they had two daughters Naiome and Fonda. When Clyde decided he wanted to be a stock car driver their life quickly began around the world of racing. She began working for a local jewelry store (Ten Window Williams) where she made all the trophies for Six Rivers Racing Association. In 1974 they relocated to Galt and she began working with her mom and sister in the upholstery business.

In 1981 she married, Frank Parkerson he had three children Ken, Dorean, and Bryan. She was so excited that she now had boys and loved them as her own. They owned and operated Lays Restaurant in Lockeford, 417 Café and a Lawn & Maintenance service in Galt. Several years later she worked as a caregiver for 10 years before retiring. They were together 39 years until his passing on June 30, 2019.   

Hazel was an avid Nascar fan, she enjoyed boating, riding their Harley, and spoiling their fur babies.

Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Earl (Frank) Parkerson, parents Lawrence Towne & Helen Dollinger, and sister Charlotte Fugate.

Hazel is survived by her children and their spouses, Lona (Steve Stinson) Longwith, Naiome (Larry) Grissom, Fonda (Mike) Sutton, Ken (Cindy) Parkerson, Dorean (Joe) Martin, Bryan (Gina) Parkerson, 7 great children, Allen Arnold Cavaluzzi, Aric Arnold, Charles Lusk, Tony Barajas, Gina Bussie, Kristin Woods, Caleb Parkerson and 10 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday December 5th, at Horizon Community Church, 446 Fairway Drive in Galt, with Pastor Tim Stevenson of Horizon Community Church officiating. Interment will be private at Galt Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Cherokee Memorial.

In lieu of flowers Contributions/Donations can be made to Hospice of San Joaquin and/or Alzheimer’s/Dementia at Alz.org.

 

Ronald Scott

December 27, 1916 - November 9, 2022

Ronald Scott was born on December 27, 1916, in College Place, WA, the second of six children. When he was four years old the family moved to Southern California so his father could attend medical school at the College of Medical Evangelists (now Loma Linda University Medical Center).

Halfway through his medical training, his father was sent to the White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles for a rotation. The family lived in a tent with a wooden floor until a duplex was located around the corner from the hospital. Ron followed in his father’s footsteps and graduated from College of Medical Evangelists in 1943, then he completed his internship and residency in OB/Gyn at Los Angeles County Hospital. Ron went into practice in Huntington Park, CA. He was one of the founding members of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology in 1951. He was also a member of the American College of Surgeons, The International College of Surgeons, and the California Medical Association.

Ron, his first wife, Louise (Bunch), and their three children, took many family vacations touring the United States with a trailer in tow. His children feel fortunate to have visited every one of the 48 states during their formative years and learned to appreciate this great country. Eventually, the family made it to Alaska and Hawaii when the children were older. After practicing medicine for 39 years, Ron retired with a desire to continue serving wherever he might be needed. When a request came from the Adventist Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, for a relief physician, Ron accepted the call. While serving as the only physician, he trained eight female residents.

As Louise’s health declined, the couple moved to Lincoln, CA, near their oldest daughter. Louise passed away at the age of 90, 70 years after marrying Ron. He later married a very sweet woman named Beth (Jenks), and they both resided at Sunrise of Rocklin, a retirement community, where he cared for Beth until she passed away.

The staff at Sunrise of Rocklin and Snowline Hospice took excellent care of him until his passing at the age of 105 on November 9, 2022. He was interred with his wife at Cherokee Memorial Park, where they both have many family members buried. He was loved by family, friends and patients alike.

Ron is survived by three children, five step-children, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One granddaughter predeceased him.

He also leaves behind one sibling, Norma Scott Momb, and many nieces and nephews.

Elva Parra

May 7, 1947 - November 9, 2022

Elva Christina Parra passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 9th at the age of 75.  She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years Luis A. Parra, sons Louie Parra, Eduardo Parra, Gabriel Parra, daughter Adriana Parra Hernandez, daughters-in-law Jonallie Parra and Marianne Parra, son-in-law Carl Hernandez, 8 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Elva was born in Atoyac, Jalisco Mexico where she lived until she moved with her siblings to Tijuana where her family owned a tortilla factory while her mother lived & worked in the LA garment industry as a factory owning and self-employed seamstress.  At the age of 16 she and her siblings moved to Los Angeles, to be with their mother, where Elva met and later married the love of her life, Luis Parra.

Elva’s number one priority in life was her family.  She raised her kids in Stockton, California while also managing a family-owned restaurant called La Familia in addition to several taco trucks and food service vehicles.  Food and cooking became her passion and she shared that passion with her friends and family preparing some of the most amazingly delicious meals ever.

Once her kids grew up Elva started the process of reinventing herself as a true renaissance woman going back to school to study and receive certifications in a number of roles and practices.  Elva earned her certificate in cosmetology in Stockton, studied the culinary arts in Napa and San Francisco at the Culinary Academy, became a licensed Ombudsman, worked as a teacher’s aide for grade school students, helped the elderly as a hospice aide, became an accomplished massage therapist, and finally worked as a Reiki master healer.  In 1984 she had the privilege of being recruited to work as a head chef for the Olympians at the 1984 Olympics in L.A and also worked as a private chef and catering manager in Stockton, CA.  Elva was passionate about all of her roles and accomplishments and helped many people throughout the years.

Elva was an amazing, funny, sensitive, magical and mystical force of nature who made an impact on every person that she met.  She was not only a mother to her children but also a dependable confidant and shoulder to lean on to those in need.  Elva will be terribly missed by her family and friends.  We take solace in knowing that she is at peace and has moved on to the next evolution of her spiritual existence. 

Dearest Elva, mother, wife, friend, you will live on forever in our hearts.
