Our beloved James caught his last fish and played his final note on December 31, 2024. James Boore was born in Stockton on November 25, 1979. By age 12, he was playing lead trumpet in the Hot N Tots Dixieland youth jazz band. James was known for learning and committing the music to memory and playing effortlessly. He continued on trumpet and appeared at many jazz festivals including the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. While attending Tokay High School he performed regularly at the San Joaquin Dixieland Jazz Society and played trumpet with the rockabilly group Lucky Diaz and the High Rollers and the Delta College Night Jazz Band.
James was hired by Carnival Cruise Lines as a musician and soon became its musical director, which permitted him to find the best fishing spots all around the globe for eighteen years. A talented cook and cocktail mixer, honed by his exposure to worldwide cultures, his friends would savor his specialty cocktails such as his “Beet Martini” and “Last Word.” While on the cruise line James met the love of his life, Louise “Lou” Dutton, from Liverpool, England and the rest is history. They were together for many years and recently became engaged.
After leaving the ship, James worked as hospitality manager for Michael David Winery in Lodi for over ten years where he charmed wine tasters with his sparkling personality, good looks, and knowledge of the various vintages. He had a great sense of humor and was a great storyteller of his many adventures. His company and friendship will be missed by his friends and family. He is survived by his fiancée, Lou, his parents, Tim and Deanna, and his sister Lyndsi. As a special note, the Boore family would like to thank the Kolber family for the love and affection for James as if he was one of their own.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the go fund me account: Donate to Honor James Boore: Support Youth Fishing & Music, organized by Deanna Boore
