Michael Mangrich

September 10, 1955 - April 8, 2025

Michael (Mike) Dennis Mangrich, age 69, of Lodi, California, passed away on April 8, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on September 10, 1955, in Lodi, California, Michael (Mike) was the son of Roman and Antoinette Mangrich. He attended both Lodi and Tokay High School and graduated with the Class of 1973. Later, he worked and retired from Union Planing Mill as a Journeyman Carpenter. Mike was known for his love of God, his wife, children, grandchildren, fishing, camping, gardening, and sports (Go Giants!).

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Susanna (Susie), children, Nicole & Matt Nowak, Tom & Tasha Mangrich, and his grandchildren Ashton Foster, Chole Nowak, Addison Mangrich, Avery Mangrich, and Ashlynn Mangrich. He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Antoinette Mangrich and his beloved brother, Ronnie Mangrich.

A funeral/memorial service will be held at Cherokee Memorial (Vineyard Chapel) on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. A viewing will be held from 9:30 am - 10 am, the service at 10am with burial and reception to follow.

John Renji

John Renji
May 20, 1959 – April 7, 2025

Our hearts are heavy as we share the loss of John Renji, a gentle soul and guiding presence, who passed away peacefully on April 7, 2025, at the age of 65. He was well-lived, well-read, and well-traveled.

John was born on May 20,1959, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He was the fourth of six children of his late parents, P.A. John and Mariamma John, of the Cherukattuserril family. John grew up in Kerala when life moved slower, and children played soccer in the streets until dusk. He spent his days riding his bicycle through narrow lanes, running errands for the house, and playing with his friends in the neighborhood. His bond with his mother was so strong that the locals called his mother “Renji’s mom”

John arrived in Stockton, California, in 1981 on a student visa. He lived and worked at his aunt’s motel to put himself through college. It was never easy, but he enjoyed the challenge, driven by his passion for being independent and a deep desire to attain an advanced degree in the United States.

He earned a Master’s in Business Administration and worked for an American multinational company, General Mills, Inc., in Lodi, where he was respected for his intelligence, innovation, work ethic, and collaborative spirit.

John and Jaya married in 1990, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that spanned 34 years. Their enduring bond was marked by unconditional love, shared values, and unwavering support for one another through life’s joys and challenges. Jaya had lost her father young and longed for a husband to make her world feel safe and guided again. John provided her that. In her words, he was her life and world. John believed in empowering those around him; most notably, he encouraged and guided his wife to be independent and self-assured by furthering her education.

John believed deeply in the power of knowledge and empowerment. Beyond his home, he often extended his kindness to those who are new to the USA, offering practical help from driving lessons to guidance and comfort, much like a big brother would. Family and friends’ children looked forward to playing with him at community social gatherings. They gravitated toward him due to his childlike spirit and playfulness. For them, he was always one of them!

He loved country music and Yanni’s New Age tunes. Inspired by his father, a Kuwait Airways mechanic, he had a lifelong fascination with cars and planes. The values instilled from his Christian Pentecostal upbringing reflected in his personal and professional life. He was not a denomination-centric person but a general Bible-based believer. John’s faith was not just something he believed in and professed; instead, it was something he embodied. He personified Christlike selflessness in everything he did.

John is survived by his wife, Jaya, and his siblings, Leelamma, Andrews, Alex, and Jolly. He now joins his parents and his brother Roy in rest. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

He never spoke of legacy. He simply lived one!

Loralie L. Barth

August 24, 1927 - April 5, 2025

Loralie L. Barth, age 97, passed away at her home Saturday, April 5, 2025 with family and the attending nurse by her side. Loralie was born August 24, 1927 in Ryegate, Montana to parents Emil and Regina Neuharth. Her grandparents emigrated from Odessa, Russia in the 1850s and 1860s. German was mostly spoken at home and church during her early childhood years. She had 2 brothers and 6 sisters. Her family later moved to Menno, SD and then to Viborg, SD where she graduated from Viborg High School in 1945. In 1948, the Neuharth family moved to Salem, OR. There, she worked as a secretary for the State of Oregon’s Industrial Accident Commission. Although she loved her job, she concluded it was “now or never” to pursue her heartfelt interests--singing and music. 

 In 1950, she enrolled at Pasadena College, a Nazarene college which later moved its location to San Diego and is now known as Point Loma Nazarene University.  At Pasadena College she studied as a voice major while working as a secretary to two deans of the college. It was there she met her beloved Boyd, also a music major and education major. Their relationship quickly blossomed and in 1952 they announced their engagement at a Youth Choir beach and hot dog party. Loralie and Boyd’s December evening wedding at the Central Nazarene Church in Pasadena was followed by a Tijuana, Mexico honeymoon and trip to Oregon visiting family and friends along the way. One fortuitous stop was a visit with two of Loralie’s uncles. The newlyweds were given a grand tour of the quaint little town and they fell in love with it. The town? Livable, loveable Lodi. Boyd’s first teaching job application was to the Lodi School District and he was hired right away upon graduating.  And so, in 1955, a lifetime in Lodi began. Loralie and Boyd soon started their family of two children, Byron and Brenda, and became active members of Temple Baptist Church. Over the years, Loralie was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, President of the Women’s Missionary Foundation, and director of two Christmas programs. Loralie’s love for music and song continued as a member of the Community Concert Association and its Board of Directors, as well as joining the Stockton Choral Group.  A musical highlight for her was performing with the chorale on two occasions with the San Francisco Symphony. 

As her children entered school, Loralie returned to studying and graduated with her degree in education and received her teaching credentials from University of the Pacific, Stockton. Her 19-year teaching career began in 1969 at Lakewood Elementary School followed by Erma B. Reese, Tokay Colony and Clairmont Elementary schools teaching 5th or 6th grade and three years of 4th grade. She loved teaching this age group and always brought music and art into the classroom. A career highlight for Loralie was taking the school choir that she directed to the State Capitol in Sacramento where the students performed patriotic songs in the Capitol rotunda. In addition to music and teaching, Loralie had an interest in politics and became an active member of and historian for the Lodi Republican Women Federated between 2005 and 2010.

During their 66 years together, Loralie and Boyd enjoyed many road trips together. Trips to Oregon, Washington, Canada and a memorable journey across the U.S. to New York and back through Nebraska with their two small children in a 1960 VW Beetle. Their 25th Anniversary took them on a Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, Haiti and Jamaica. There were also lots of miles traveled to share in their children’s activities. Many trips to Southern California to hear Byron sing in the Hour of Power Choir at the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, as well as several of the Choir's concerts. They also enjoyed attending productions of The Glory of Christmas and The Glory of Easter in the Crystal Cathedral. Not to mention crisscrossing Northern California to watch their daughter, Brenda, play in a myriad of tennis tournaments over the years.

 Loralie loved her life, her home and all the “projects” that kept her busy. She loved and valued her family, her granddaughters, the light of her eyes, and all her neighbors. She loved decorating the house for every holiday, and she loved giving to her church, charitable organizations, and family. But central to it all was her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will surely be missed.

Loralie is survived by son Byron Barth (Shane M. Wise), daughter Brenda Ross (Michael), granddaughters Raeanne Ross and Geneva Delfs (Cameron), and step-grandsons Don Ross III, and Josh Rossini (Leah) and family.

MEMORIAL SERVICE
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 1:00pm at Cherokee Memorial Park, Evergreen Chapel, Hwy 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi, CA. All are welcome. There will be a reception immediately following in the Cherokee Memorial J. Charles Irwin Reception Center.

Carol Selleseth

In Loving Memory of Carol Alice Selleseth
October 10, 1936 - April 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother—affectionately known as GG. Carol Alice Selleseth passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on October 10, 1936, in Stockton, CA, Carol moved to Lodi in 1965, where she built a life rooted in compassion, strength, and unwavering love for her family.

In her younger years, Carol was an avid bowler. She loved traveling with her bowling team and her devoted husband, Keith—the love of her life—creating memories that she cherished throughout her life. Her love for travel extended beyond bowling; she enjoyed many cruises and trips with Keith and close friends.

Carol dedicated 41 years to San Joaquin Lumber Company in Stockton, CA, serving as a bookkeeper and office manager until her retirement. She was also a faithful member of the choir at First United Methodist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and travel companions.

Carol was a devoted mother to her children: Richard Selleseth, Jennifer Garcia, Renee Golden (Gary), and Dana Woltkamp. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Brandon Golden, Michelle Faul (Jeff), Jillian Wagers, Lisa Nunez (Nick), Ashley Thomson (Scott), Kimberly Jorgensen (Kraig), Nicole McCabe (James), Kristen Reisinger (Andrew), and Gregg Stevens (Faith), and a loving great-grandmother to 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Keith Selleseth, her parents Elsie and Earl Hurd Sr., and her brother Earl Hurd Jr.

Graveside services will be held privately. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.

Carol’s deep love and compassion will never be forgotten. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Arnold Loffelbein

November 10, 1933 - April 2, 2025

Arnold Leslie Loffelbein passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Acampo, California, at the age of 91. Born on November 10, 1933, in French Camp, California, Arnold lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to country, and pride in craftsmanship.

Growing up in California's Central Valley, Arnold developed a strong sense of discipline and teamwork as a record breaking, letterman on the swim team for Lodi High School. Shortly after he served honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Belgrove (LSD-2) during the final stages of the Korean War.

Following his military service, Arnold pursued a career as an ironworker with Union Local 118. For more than 25 years, he contributed to shaping his community with strength and precision. His commitment to excellence earned him deep respect among peers and left a lasting legacy across countless construction projects.

Arnold shared his life with his beloved wife, Juanita Loffelbein. Together they raised four daughters: Lorraine Sanchez (husband Larry), Janette Mahoney, Teresa Suegav (husband Dan), and Lisa Cox. Arnold was blessed by nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Family was central to Arnold's life-he found joy in both everyday moments and family adventures that created lasting memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gotlieb and Matilda Loffelbein; brothers Ralph and Alfred Loffelbein; sister Jean Webber and great grandson Elijah White.

In retirement, Arnold enjoyed hobbies that reflected his curiosity and creativity. He had a passion for gold panning and took pleasure in woodworking and gardening-pursuits that allowed him to build beauty with his hands and nurture life from the earth.

SERVICE
 A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N Beckman Rd., Lodi, California 95240.

Following services the Celebration will continue. Family and close friends are invited to a light luncheon from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Loffelbein Home.

In lieu of flowers, Arnold wished to honor his late great-grandson,Elijah White. Donations may be made to UC Davis Children's Hospital.

Beverly Morse

November 26, 1956 - March 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Ann Morse, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025 at the age of 68. She was a woman of unwavering love, kindness, and strength, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and compassion. She was born on November 26, 1956 in Sherman, Texas and lived in Stockton, California. She was a nurse for more than 20 years and found joy in watching her beloved Oakland Raiders, USC Trojans and speeding around in her white Pontiac listening to her favorite rock band, Heart. She is survived by her loving family, including her father Billy Hood, her husband Rod Morse Sr., and children Melissa Ann, Rodney Morse II, David Morse Sr. and grandchildren, Alexis Ann, Raymond Jr., Zoe, Rodney Morse III, Milaana Ann, David Morse II, and great grandchild Mylah Ann.

Wanda Jividen

March 23, 1937 - March 29, 2025

Wanda Lousie Elliott Jividen, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Oklahoma, March 23, 1937 to Harry and Dovie Shaffer the family relocated to Stockton in 1942 at the age of 5 years old. Wanda grew up in Stockton, Ca. attending local schools and Graduating from Franklin High School in 1955.

Wanda was the youngest of 7 siblings all proceeding her death: Ernie, Viola, Hershel, Betha, Thelma, Helen, and Virgie Marie.

A devoted Mother to Cherryl Elliott Kyes Collette, Teresa Elliott-Austin and Allen Dean Elliott (deceased). She is now dancing in heaven with Allen (2020) along with her husband(s) George Lee Elliott (2024) and Jack Jay Jividen (2011).

Grandmother to Sean Kyes, Ryan Kyes and Stephenie Gubac. Step Grandmother to Michael and David Austin. Great-grandmother (GG) to Natalee, Austyn, Tre` Gubac and Gracie Kyes. Step Great-grandmother to Katie and Nicolas Austin, Brooklynn and David Austin. Step Great Great Grandmother to Italia, Kamilla and Reyes Austin.

Wanda spent most of her time doing for others, making beautiful handmade things for those she loved. A talented: Seamstress, and Upholsterer, she made hats scarves, dresses and sweaters Knitting, Crocheting and Needle point work was a way to keep her hands busy while always taking care of those around her.

Wanda worked for several years at Dameron Hospital, and retired from the San Joaquin Medical Society in the yearly 1990’s. After retiring, she moved to Sacramento to start her life with Jack, they Married on October 3, 1993 in Reno, NV. In 2022 Wanda moved to Galt to a beautiful new home closer to her daughters, living in Galt, she enjoyed her daily walks with Jazzie (her dog) while meeting new friends and neighbors.

Wanda had a heart of gold. Providing her compassion, courage and wisdom to others in her presence. Mother offered all her children Unconditional Love, Independence and the high spirted Knowledge that we could do anything we set out to do with success. She will be truly missed by many, especially Cherryl and Teresa.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2025 at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.

Velma Stafford

Velma Louise Stafford
February 22, 1940 – March 27, 2025

Velma Louise Alexander was born on February 22, 1940 on a farm in Cherryvale, Kansas to parents Florence and Louis.

Her early years were spent in Nebraska, Wyoming, and Oregon where her father was a minister. It was in Lowell, Oregon where she gave her life to Jesus. She became an older sister to David when she was five.

As a young girl, she wanted to learn to sew, so her mom gave her feed sacks, patterns and sewing machine to get started. She made many of her own dresses, which unbeknownst to her, would fuel a lifelong passion and lead to a business.

As Velma was entering sixth grade, the family returned to Kansas to help her grandparents on their farm and in their church.

In tenth grade, the Alexanders moved to Lodi, California to be closer to Velma’s mother’s family, the Lees. Roger remembers Velma saying that upon arriving in Lodi, she felt like she was home.

Her fondest high school memory was playing in the band, which included marching in Disneyland’s Opening Day parade in 1955. She took home economics all throughout high school, where she excelled in sewing and cooking. In her senior year, she was given the Bank of America Achievement Award.

Her sister Sheryl was born when Velma was 16, and the two were always very close. Velma took care of her sister and helped raise her at times when her mom’s health was wavering.

She began building her community in Lodi through getting involved in Youth for Christ and Bible clubs, and attended Bethel Open Bible Church, which is where she met her future husband, Roger. They both played saxophone in the church orchestra.

Velma and Roger got married on December 19, 1958 in Lodi.

Roger, Velma and their two sons, Rodney and Gary, relocated to Berkeley in 1962-63 for one year, where Roger studied at UC Berkeley to complete his engineering degree. They welcomed Danene into their family during that year. Their lifetime Cal football fandom began there and trickled through the generations, and the family still attends nearly every home game.

Upon returning to Lodi, Velma sewed a lot for her family. Once, after making a dress for her sister-in-law, someone asked where she got it because they wanted one for themselves, and Velma’s seamstress business was born. She ran a successful business from her home for 60 years, helping multiple clients per day and frequently walking about her sewing room with pins held between her lips and a measuring tape strewn over her neck.

Velma and Roger were both very involved in their children’s activities, taking on roles such as room mother, cub scouts, PTA, soccer and baseball games, and more.

A critical part of her life was being involved at Bethel Open Bible Church. Roger and she are fourth generation members in the Bethel church family, and she was proud of her family’s history and heritage at Bethel, dating back to its start. Velma attended weekly, mentored young parents, and was head librarian at Bethel’s library.

Once her three children had started college and careers, Velma and Roger began traveling. Velma visited 90 countries and all seven continents – yes, including Antarctica! She and Roger took many cruises and met lifelong friends with whom they explored the world.

For 25 years, Velma and Roger looked forward to spending the month of February in Honolulu, enjoying Waikiki Beach, touring on the city bus and celebrating her birthday.

One of her favorite places to visit yearly was La Selva Beach in Santa Cruz, where she’d spend the Fourth of July week with her family – and friends who felt like family – for more than 30 years. This was among many important traditions she created for her

family.

She proudly became “Nana” – a title earned a thousand times over – to seven grandchildren whom she loved deeply and individually.

She encountered bumps in the road, among which were a few surgeries, cancer (which she survived), and in 2010, the passing of Danene, her daughter and best friend, to cancer. What sustained her was knowing God and that his promises never fail, and they would be reunited someday.

Of her life, she wrote “I’m a blessed and fulfilled woman. Jesus had met all our needs and many of our wants and wishes. He is more than wonderful to me.”

Her legacy lives on in her husband Roger; her pride and joy were her children and spouses Rodney and Molly, Gary and Cynthia, and Matt; grandchildren and partners Julia and Chris, Olivia and Colin, Laura and Vibhor, Zac and Christina, Willie and Riley, Regan, Meghan and Sam; great grandchild Bennett; sister Sheryl; and nieces and nephews John, Kent, Christie, Brandy, Sean and Emily. She joins her parents, brother, and daughter, Janis Danene, in Heaven.

Faithful Follower of Jesus, Wife, Mother, Grandmother “Nana,” Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Daughter, Friend, Mentor, Published Cook, Head Librarian, Cancer Survivor, Seamstress, Room Mother, Baker … she left all of us with a life complete.
