Gay Walters

Gay Gilliam Walters
December 20, 1929 - July 5, 2025

Lucretia “Gay” Gilliam Walters, born December 20, 1929 passed away July 5, 2025.

Born in Spiro, Oklahoma to James and Burnie Gilliam, Gay was the first of two children. She is predeceased by her sister, Ida Sue Gilliam Dean. Gay lived in Oklahoma and Arkansas graduating from Northeastern State College until moving to Stockton, California in 1952. During her years in Arkansas she spoke fondly of being the Rogers High School Band Leader.

Next Gay followed her adventurous Native American spirit and pursued an ad in the newspaper seeking public school teachers in Stockton, CA. This ended up being the passion of her life spending 60 years in education. She especially enjoyed her time at Edison High School with her Special Education classes, training and supervising upcoming educators, and earned a Masters Degree in Education from the University of the Pacific.

Gay was the loving mother of two children, James William Walters and Linda Ann Walters DeBonis. She loved laughing and playing and acting silly with her three grandchildren: Camden William DeBonis, Taylor Ann DeBonis and Megan Elizabeth Walters. She is also survived by her loving nieces, Julie Dean Bond and Jennifer Dean, steadfast cousins, Bonnie Falconer Anglin, Gay Lynn Dickerson, Pam, Dickerson, Sarah Redwine, and son in law, Steven DeBonis.

Gay’s most treasured childhood memories were of going on “house calls” with her granddaddy, Doctor Willard C. Gilliam, the beloved Spiro town doctor. She also spoke fondly of living on the family “hill” with horses and cattle and having all her extended aunts, uncles and cousins nearby for daily visits.

Gay was the ultimate people person and loved nothing more than sitting outside and chatting the day away listening to people’s stories. She was the most loyal and generous friend, fun- loving, and young at heart always enjoying the company of young people. She loved her dogs, coffee, being part of the Choctaw Indian Tribe, nature, water, music, the color cobalt blue, and sticking up for the underdog. Gay was known for an untamed adventurous spirit loving fast cars, boats, horses and even flew solo in her small aircraft. She spent many miles on Route 66 between Oklahoma and California.

Gay, you will stay loved and remembered every day. Your legacy lives on in the love, authenticity and values you instilled in all you touched. You were a true giver and lived gratefully without regrets.

The family will hold a private service and ask kindly in lieu of flowers, for all who are called to do so, donations may be made to any local public school or teacher.

Henry Estrella

November 7, 1931 - July 4, 2025

Henry Estrella was born November 7, 1931. His birth name was Enrique Hilario Caberto. Place of birth was San Jose, California.

At age 7, he moved with his parents, Emilia and Antonio Estrella, to the Philippines. He grew up in the Philippines until joining the Navy in 1952. He married Conchita Francisco on January 30, 1953. They started their family with daughters Maureen and Yvonne, both born in the Philippines, and son Wayne and daughter Patricia, born in San Francisco, California. The family moved to San Francisco in 1958. Henry was away from the family often due to his Navy obligations. Consequently the children were spaced apart in age. San Francisco was his home port until 1968, then the family moved to San Diego.

In 1970, he moved the family to Hawaii. This was Henry’s happy place. When asked by a doctor in the last couple of days, “What city are you currently in?” he clearly said, “Hawaii!”

Henry retired from Navy in 1989, 26 ½ years total time served as a Master Chief, E9, the highest rank for an enlisted man. Henry was an active member of the Masons in Hawaii and rose to be a Shriner. He stayed in Hawaii until 1996. He moved the family back to the mainland, settling in Stockton to be closer to our large Estrella family.

Henry and Conching had a love affair filled with joy, challenges, love and loyalty. When Conching became ill, Henry was constantly by her side, nursing her every step along the way. Conching passed in February 20, 2022. Henry brought flowers every week, manicuring the grass and headstone. Henry would read passages from the Bible while visiting Conching.

Henry passed a legacy on to all of us: to be kind, to love with all your heart, to work hard, to be forgiving, and to live humbly. Family FIRST! Henry is proud big brother for the Estrellas and the Cabertos. He helped many and did so without notoriety. He accepted his life with all the twist and turns and never complained of his hardships. He claimed that his hardships gave him strength and determination. He found a way to touch our lives one by one.

At age 93, we could all be so lucky! Henry had a devoted wife, four well behaved and problem free children (Maureen, Yvonne, Wayne and Patricia). He watched his seven grandchildren, (Jon, Jessica, Travis, Jenna, Tiffany, Bryson and Angelica) grow up to be fine adults. He met his eleven high energy great grandchildren (Ezra, Samantha, Zack, Izzy, Gaby, Mikey, Marcus, Elliot, Malia, Owen, & Maya). They were all his pride and joy.

Henry passed peacefully on the Fourth of July, family by his side and fireworks outside. He was a true patriot.

April 30, 1948 - June 29, 2025

Lee Roy Herron Sr., 77, peacefully passed away on June 29, 2025, reuniting with his beloved wife Sharon, in Heaven.

Lee never knew a stranger.  He had a heart full of kindness, a sharp sense of humor, and generosity that touched everyone he met, he lived life with humility--and a little bit of stubbornness.

He loved a cold beer, swimming, rafting, rooting for his SF 49ers team, and playing cards and dominoes, which he referred to as "bones".  A true animal lover, Lee especially cherished his dog Sami Gouchy.

He was a devoted husband and father who worked hard and made sacrifices to provide for his family, even after suffering a severe back injury.  Though life presented many challenges, his commitment and love for his family never waivered.  He wasnt perfect, but his heart was steady and full of love.
