Danny Hackworth

September 26, 1947 - September 19, 2018

On Wednesday, September 19th, 2018, Danny Ray Hackworth, loving husband and father of two daughters, passed away at age 70 in Lodi, CA. Danny was born on September 26th, 1947 in Stockton, CA to Darvin and Rita Hackworth.  He graduated from Lodi High School in 1965, and continued on to Delta College where, he earned his AA Degree.  Not only did Dan work over 25 years as a Butcher at George's Meat Market, but he also made a career of building custom cabinets (among many other things), which he learned at the age of 14.  On May 10th, 1969, he married Maxine Evans.  They raised two daughters, Misty Hackworth and Wendy Balogh.
Danny had a passion for a great many things: camping, hunting, boating, and fishing. He was happy out on the road with his wife Maxine, exploring many amazing places.  Dan was a Renaissance man.  From coaching his daughters softball teams, to building and racing Jeeps.  He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lodi, and worked to build the church with his family as a young man.  Dan had a natural ability to fix almost anything, and if he didn't know how, he would learn.  He was meticulous and focused in everything he did.  Above all, Dan's first priority, was his family and friends.  He was as devoted to those he loved as a person could be - well known for his loyalty, selflessness, and generous spirit.  Dan was always willing to help – anytime, anywhere.
Danny was preceded in death by his father Darvin, mother Rita, and younger sister Sandy Williams. He is survived by his wife Maxine, his two daughters, Misty and Wendy, his brother Ron Hackworth and wife Teri, his sister Brenda Versic and husband Dave, sons-in-law Damon Duncan and Ken Balogh, and his five grandchildren – Evelyn Balogh (5), Marcus Ohlhauser (25), Summer Duncan (22), Cayley Duncan (19), and Jordan Symanowski (28).
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 26th, 2018, at the Church of Christ at 600 S. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA.  Donations can be made to the Church of Christ, or in Dan's name directly to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation at pkdcure.org.
