Inez Delia Thomas

October 7, 1921 - November 11, 2021

Having recently reached her 100th birthday, Inez Thomas passed away at her home of over 65 years on November 11, 2021.  Inez was born in Placerville, CA, on October 7, 1921, to Paul and Maria Bongetta, both natives of Italy.  She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1939, as one of the class valedictorians.  After business college, she worked for the Farm Advisor’s Office, in Placerville, CA, and later for Inter-County Title Company. 

She married the love of her life, Kyle Thomas, an employee of the U. S. Forest Service on June 20, 1942.  She is survived by her three daughters, Lynn Thomas, Paulett Frink, and Teresa Mustin, seven grandchildren, Mandi Young, Marc Young, Michael Frink, Mary Frink, Melissa Williamson, Timothy Mustin, and Andrew Mustin, as well as thirteen great grandchildren, and her niece Mary Onetti. She is predeceased by her husband, Kyle Thomas, of 41 years, sisters Margaret, Jessie, and Elsie, brother, Jim Bongetta, grandson, Kyle Gray, niece, Doris Onetti, and sons-in-law Kim Frink and Tim Mustin.

Inez was truly a pillar and leader in her community of Tokay Colony and St. Joachim’s Catholic Church providing years of service including leading the school Parents Club, Community leader of 4-H, catechism teacher and leader of a bible study group in her home for over 20 years, and communion minister bringing communion each week to the sick for over 30 years.  She attended mass daily and was a lifetime member of Lockeford Grange. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Inez received the Diocese of Stockton Bishop’s Award in 2016 in recognition of her faith and many years of devoted service to the church. She was respected and loved by the many people whose lives she touched. She was a rock of faith and lead by her example of Christian faith to her family and all those who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

SERVICES:

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, 13392 E. Lockeford Ranch Rd. Lockeford, CA, following the recitation of the Rosary at 9:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park.

Donations can be made in memory of Inez Thomas to Hospice of San Joaquin or St. Mary’s Dining Hall of Stockton.
