James Richard Caldwell passed away on March 25, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Stockton, California.

Jim was born on 11/9/1949, in Stockton, California, to Richard and Esther Caldwell.\

Jim attended A. A. Stagg High School, graduating in 1967. In August, 1968, Jim enlisted in the US Navy, during the Vietnam war, and was Honorably Discharged in 1972.

Upon return to Stockton from the Navy, Jim was employed as a maintenance engineer for St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Dominic’s Hospital in Manteca, and retired in 2009 from Kaiser Permanente in Stockton.

Jim’s greatest passion was his family, not only his immediate relatives, but also his aunts, uncles, and 16 first cousins, and his enthusiastic participation in the annual Hunt Family Picnic.

Jim enjoyed summers boating and fishing on the Delta, and often could be found imbibing at the Delta water holes. In addition to being an expert water skier, Jim also found joy on the snowy slopes. Working on American muscle cars and dune buggies in his garage was one his favorite pastimes.

Jim was an active member of Mayfair Christian Church and chose to be re-baptized in December, 2024.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Esther Caldwell, and sister, Linda Caldwell. He is survived by his daughter, Macy Caldwell, his wife, Cathy Caldwell, and his children by marriage, Candice Albert, Josh Sinclair, and Robert Martinez, Jr., and grandchildren, Alayna Martinez, Emery Sinclair, and Samuel Sinclair.

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on June 5, 2025, at Mayfair Christian Church, 5 W. Swain Rd, Stockton, California, 95207, at 1 p.m. The family invites guests to wear crazy hats, silly accessories, mismatched and bright clothing.
