Hermen Mercado

August 11, 1935 - June 3, 2025

Hermen Maulana Mercado passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his family by his bedside on June 3, 2025 at the age 89 years old in the midst of spring.

Hermen was born in Dumaguete City, Philippines on August 11, 1935 which is where earned a doctorate in medicine and practiced as the Provincial Health Officer on the island province of Cebu. Later in his life he immigrated to the United States where he made his permanent residence in Stockton, California. He continued to practice his lifelong career in healthcare by choosing to become a registered nurse in which he finally retired in late 2011 to finally take some time to relax at home with his family. Hermen made sure to always support his wife, Marilyn Mercado, and son, Kevin Ray Mercado through his hard work and always being around when it mattered. Throughout the years of his retirement, he did his best to provide his small family a lifetime of memories throughout the world.

Hermen was a quiet but caring man who put his family first, he always prayed for God’s will to take of them no matter what. He held firm to his beliefs and never complained about hardships that he faced throughout life – all so that his family could thrive. And though he might not have been the expressive type to share his emotions frequently, he always held his loved ones close in his heart.

While he may have never been one for many words, his silent actions throughout his life speak more than we could ever ask for from a loving father. Hermen will always be remembered for how he has cared for his family at the heart of everything he has done. May God bless his soul and grant unto him eternal peace.
