October 19, 1938 - July 21, 2025
Larry L. Salvail, 86, passed from this life peacefully on July 21, 2025 at his home in Ione, CA surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 19, 1938 in Oakland, CA to parents Eugene and Mildred and older brother to Glenn.
Dearly beloved husband of Dolores Salvail, loving father to Ken Salvail and Tina (Salvail) Trevarthen and her husband Mearl; grandfather to Lauren, Aarron, Adrian and Andrew and a great grandfather.
He joined the Navy in 1956 and served in the Pacific fleet with honor and distinction. His tour took him across the equator and into Asia and New Zealand.
After his military service, he met his wife Dolores on a blind date and they married in 1961. They were together in everything they did for 64 years. Larry owned his own window covering business for over 32 years and retired to Ione, CA
He loved going camping and exploring the country in their RV and joined a RV club that went on monthly outings. His love of garden railroad trains resulted in a new business of making wood buildings for garden railroad layouts. He also joined a RC airplane club and enjoyed flying his RC planes.
Larry will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, dedication to his family and friends, and an amazing sense of humor. Larry's legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
SERVICE:
Family and friends are invited to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ione, CA on August 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass with a reception following in the church hall. The family encourages all guests to wear bright colors and bring their favorite stories of Larry to share.
