Larry C. Pierce
June 9, 1961 - September 13, 2025
Larry Pierce passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2025 at the age of 64.
Larry was born in Oceanside, California on June 9, 1961. He was a loving older brother to Jimmy Pierce, and raised by his parents Jim and Susie Pierce in Sacramento. He continued to live in the Sacramento area throughout his life playing baseball with his friends, riding motorcycles, fishing, hunting, and drifting his green Pinto behind the Montgomery Ward at the Florin Mall.
Larry graduated from Luther Burbank High School in 1979 in Sacramento, and then served faithfully in the Canada Montreal Quebec Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1980 to 1982.
He married Merilee Campbell on June 17, 1983 in the Oakland California Temple. His children, Jacob, Jessica, Stephanie, Joshua, and Sydney, soon followed and all added to the joy of his life.
Larry and his family moved to Galt, California in 1991 where Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite callings were working with the youth, cooking for Girl’s Camp and earning his son’s merit badges at Scout Camp.
Larry graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, and worked in his career for both the City of Sacramento and SMUD as a Certified Industrial Hygienist. In 2021, Larry retired from his career after 32 years.
In his retirement, Larry was proud to live his dream of being ever present for his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. He enjoyed his daily walks, getting to know people along the way, and would intercept his grandchildren in the park on their way to school (Zack wear your helmet). He traveled the world with his wife, where he visited 24 different countries. He enjoyed baking, gardening, camping, Disneyland, and tinkering with his solar panels with skills he learned from YouTube University. His absolute favorite thing was cheering on his grandkids at their sporting events.
Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Merilee Pierce; his children Jacob (Sarah) Pierce, Jessica (Trevor) Kelly, Stephanie (Chase) Grumbling, Joshua (Quinessa) Pierce, and Sydney (TBD) Pierce; his grandchildren Nicholas, Vance, Zachary, Layla, Olivia, Shawn, Natalie, Ezra, Allison, and Brandon; his mother, Susan Pierce and brother, Jimmy Pierce.
He is preceded in death by father, James Douglas Pierce.
He is loved, cherished, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
