October 31, 1948 - January 14, 2026
Gary Edward Dosier,77, passed away January 14,2026 at Dameron Hospital in Stockton, California. He was born October 31,1948 in Lodi, California.
Gary graduated from Franklin High school in Stockton in 1965. He was then drafted into the United States Army where he served in Korea. After his service he attended Sacramento State in pursuit of his teaching credentials. He began his own swim club, Stockton Aquatics, which he coached at UOP, that became quite successful.
Gary received his teaching degree and later began his career as an admirable and established teacher at Walton Special Center for children and young adults with special needs. He worked for SUSD for 25 years before retiring in 2020.
Gary had always been quite active and healthy most of his life with many skills. He was an exceptional handyman who could fix and build most anything and had accomplished many home improvements for himself and others. He remained quite busy and active well into his 60’s until his heart transplant in 2016 – and retired four years later.
Gary is remembered by his family and friends as someone who could always be counted on, giving his time, knowledge, care, and support freely without hesitation.
Gary is survived by his son, Brooks Dosier, younger sister, Cheryl Stankewitz, and grandchildren Casey and Rachel Dosier. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted at Cherokee Memorial in Lodi, California and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Dosier family.
