In Loving Memory of Christopher Costa
September 27, 1956 – October 14, 2026
OBITUARY
Christopher Costa, a lifelong resident of Thornton, California, passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 70. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will live on through the many people who knew and loved him.
Born in French Camp, California, Chris grew up in Thornton and attended Galt High School, where he excelled in football, one of his greatest passions.
After graduating, Chris traveled to Colombia and later met the love of his life, Jeri-Sandra, at Pope Beach in Lake Tahoe. Together, they shared 46 years of love, memories, and family.
Eventually returning to Thornton, Chris spent 40 years farming and working on ranches throughout the area. He was a hardworking man with a tough spirit and a personality that could fill any room. He loved being around people, a good party, and the freedom to live life his own way. As bold and boisterous as he was, Chris had a heart of gold and was always willing to give the shirt off his back to those in need.
Chris loved his children deeply and cherished the time he spent with them. He taught them valuable lessons about self-reliance, hunting, fishing, wilderness survival, and respect for the land. His love, guidance, and devotion to his children will remain with them forever.
True to his free spirit, Chris spent his final moments on his motorcycle, surrounded by the freedom he loved, with the wind in his hair.
Chris called Thornton home throughout his life, and his presence will forever be felt in the fields and ranches where he worked and in the hearts of those who loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Jeri-Sandra Costa; his children, Alexandra Christine Costa and Manuel Costa; his brothers, Thomas Costa, Joseph Costa, and Alvin Costa; and his 10 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Daughter Chrisencia Costa brothers, Mike Costa and Gregory Costa, and his parents, Thomas Edward Costa and Mary Genevieve Costa.
Chris will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, generous heart, unforgettable personality, and the countless stories and memories he leaves behind. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
