William T. Blue PhD. ("Bill"), 78, passed away in Stockton, CA on October 4, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Bill was born in Chicago, IL to the late James and Alma Blue. He was a lifelong fan of his hometown teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Family was important to him and he loved camping, fishing and golfing trips with his brothers and cousins. Holidays with family were among his favorite times.

During his tenure he held the position of Chairman of the Division of Structural Biology and was granted the honorary status of Professor Emeritus after his retirement. William's professional career was focused on research and teaching, but teaching is what he loved best.
In 1995, Bill married his beloved wife, Christine, with whom he shared 31 wonderful years of marriage. He was a man of integrity and quiet wisdom. Although his sense of humor was subtle, his laugh was hearty. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories that will forever be held in the the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Christine, his sons, Adam M. Blue and Daniel R. Blue, and grandchildren, Owen Blue and Emmett Blue.
