JoAnn McClelland passed away peacefully on August 15, 2026, at the age of 92. Born June 3, 1934, in Lassen County to John and Dorothy Capezzoli, JoAnn was a lifelong California woman whose life was deeply rooted in family, ranching, friendship, and adventure.
JoAnn was born and raised on a ranch in Lassen County where she developed a lifelong love of the Western lifestyle and the ranching community. This love led her to serve as the Lassen County Rodeo Queen, become a member of the Lassen County Cowbelles, and continue a family tradition as a third-generation member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West.
On October 26, 1952, JoAnn married Hal McClelland. They shared 64 years of marriage until his passing in 2016. Family was always an important part of JoAnn's life. She is survived by her son, Robert (Bob) McClelland, and his life partner, Kelley Pile; their daughter, Shannon Rodriguez, and her family, including her husband, Nelson, and children, Mateo and Avery; grandson Nathan Habben and his wife, Christine; great-granddaughter Hannah Habben; two nieces; one great-niece; and three great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy Capezzoli; her husband, Hal McClelland; her daughter, Debra Habben; and her sister, Janis Anderson.
In the second stage of her life, JoAnn discovered a new passion that she enjoyed for more than 40 years: golf. She was a member of Elkhorn Country Club and Woodbridge Golf and Country Club where she spent many hours playing golf, making friends, and creating wonderful memories including a hole-in-one. At Elkhorn, she led the Ladies 18 Hole Group as captain.
JoAnn and Hal enjoyed traveling. Together, they traveled to all 50 states with many of their journeys centered around their love of golf. JoAnn's love of travel extended beyond the United States as she also visited 13 foreign countries.
VISITATION
A visitation will be held from 3:00pm - 6:00pm on Monday, August 24th, 2026 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, located at 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.
SERVICE
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026 at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.
