Irene Medrano

November 2, 1941 - June 23, 2020

Irene (Lucy) P. Medrano, 78, passed away June 23, 2020, peacefully surrounded by family. She was born November 2, 1941 in Oakland, CA. She was married to Alfonso Medrano for 36 years. She worked for Lodi Unified School District as a custodian for 25 years until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a feisty person and was lovely called Weeta by her grandchildren. She will forever be missed.

Irene is survived by her son, Julio Camberos; daughter, Blanca Camberos (Richard Lopez); daughter, Lydia Rudd (Gary Rudd); daughter, Elizabeth Hausauer; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gloria Tovar (Ernest Tovar), Ramona Castillo, Bonnie Valenzuela (Joe Valenzuela). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christina Garcia; sons, Noel Quezada, David Arellano; mother, Stella Dominquez; and sister, Rose Tovar.

VISITATION

There will be a viewing on June 30, 2020, 1:00-4:00 pm. at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240.

SERVICE

The graveside service will be held on July 1, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park, located off of Highway 99 at Harney Lane, Lodi CA, 95240.

Junior Nixon

October 12, 1927 - June 19, 2020

Junior is survived by siblings, Jack Nixon, Lily Henderson, Joyce Shorten, Nora Poppelwell and Willa Nixon; son, Marvin; daughters, Wenona Henson, Tareasa Nixon and Katie Ostman; as well as 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was loved by many.

Kathryn Honda

September 29, 1926 - June 18, 2020

Kathryn Honda, 93, of Elk Grove, Ca, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020. Kathryn was born Kathryn Misao Yamanaka in Elk Grove, California on September 29, 1926 and everyone called her Miko. Kathryn married her loving husband, Masahiro Norman Honda, in Lockeford, CA and they raised their family in Lodi, California. They had two children, Myron and Karen. Unfortunately, Myron passed in 1986 and Masahiro passed in 2007 after over 55 years of marriage. Since that time, she has been eagerly waiting and now finally able to join them.
Kathryn is survived by her loving and caring sister and brother, Kiku Ito and Frank Yamanaka and numerous nieces and nephews. They all went out of their way to help and support her whenever needed and provided her with many years of love and support.
Kathryn was a warm, compassionate and vibrant woman who always went out of her way to help others no matter what. She was a proud and dignified woman who had a passion for life. She had a wonderful sense of humor which endeared her to everyone she came in contact with that allowed her to form many long-lasting friendships over the years.
For the past 9 years Kathryn has been a resident at Mercy McMahon Terrace, an assisted living facility in Sacramento, CA. She was well-cared for and loved by all the staff. A special thanks to nursing staff Ginger, Iyvis and Priscilla and dining room staff Stephanie and Ursula who admired her warmth and hilarious wit.
A private family memorial service was held on June 26, 2020 at Cherokee Memorial. She will be missed by all, but her memory will live in all of us forever.

Doris Linker

December 25, 1929 - June 18, 2020

Doris Linker joined her husband, Henry Linker on June 18, 2020. She will be missed by her children, Craig Linker & Terry Cuellar, grandchildren, Tania Panarello (Rick) & Frank Cuellar (Jennifer) And great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cuellar, Dominic & Vincent Panarello.

Due to the situation with the Corona virus there will be no viewing or memorial service. Donations to Doris' favorite charity, the SPCA would be greatly appreciated in lieu of flowers.

John Connelly

January 10, 1928 - June 18, 2020

John Willis Connelly, passed away June 18, 2020 at Lodi Memorial Hospital, at the age of 92.

John was born in Des Moines, Iowa, January 10, 1928 to parents Myrle and Hazel Fern Connelly. The oldest son and one of 9 children. Survived by sisters, Geraldine and Shirley; brothers, Cecil and Myrle Jr.; daughter, Jeanette Wootten of Canon City Colorado and her two sons; daughter, Karen Anderson of Lodi, her 5 grandchildren; and son, Keith Connelly of Star, Idaho, his daughter and granddaughter.

John will be joining his wife of 49 years, Hattie Faye Connelly, who passed in 2004. Married in 1955, they raised 3 children as a military family and residents of Lodi. John was a resident of Lodi for 52 years, moving here after a 22 year career in the U.S. Navy. A member of the Greatest Generation, he served in the Navy during WWII, Korea and Vietnam wars, from 1945 until 1967. He served on several ships, and was stationed in Japan and Guam. His father signed his enlistment papers as a 17-year-old and he made a promise to his mother no tattoos. He honored that promise until his death, a man of character, A promise made is a promise kept and a promise to your mother is eternal.

He moved the family to Lodi in 1968, to work for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier. He carried the mail for most of Lodi at one time or another for 20 years. His daughter Karen and son Keith attended Tokay High School. John was a common sight at sporting events in Lodi; serving as spectator, fund raiser, coach, an umpire and basically the guy that could be counted on to always be there to help. John was always that friend that could be counted on anytime any place. Anyone called friend had a special place in his heart. He served as President of BOBS and performed countless hours of helping youth sports. John and Faye were active members of the Lodi Promenaders, square dance organization where John served as President. They loved to dance and joined other groups as well. He also was a member of various RV groups, making to trips around the country and to Canada. John was able to attend the World Series with his son Keith in 1984, 1988, 1989 and 1990. They also attended Super Bowl XXIII in Miami, to watch the 49ers win another title. He loved to play golf and had 3 Hole in Ones. One of his most enjoyable activities was to watch his granddaughter, Samantha perform on stage. Another came with the birth of his great granddaughter, Elizabeth in 2019. John continue his RV travel and cruising when he married Zelpha Williams in 2008 and were married until her passing in March 2011.

John was a member of the Naval Reserve and American Legion Post 22. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, where he was still dancing at 92. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Lodi where he was baptized for a second time at age 91.

VISITATION
A viewing was held on Monday, June 22 at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 10 a.m. at Cherokee Memorial Park Vineyard Chapel. There is a 50 person limit due to California's Covid 19 regulations. Masks are required.

There will be a military guard ceremony graveside at 11:15, with no limit on attendance.

She is survived by Daughter Julieta Martinez (Felipe);  Son Ruben Ballesteros; Grandchildren: Veronica (Don); Ulises; Jorge (Alejandra); Agustin (Celina); Moses (Melanie); Jesus (Alicia);Great-grandchildren: (14) Anthony, Adrian, Amalia, Sarah, Alyssa, Andrew, Abigail, Melody, Krystal, Cruz, Luca, Victoria, Valentina, Camila and Great-great grandchildren: (1) Anthony Ballesteros.

A visitation will be held for Maria from 9:00am - 12:00pm on Wednesday June 24, 2020 at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, 14165 N. Beckman Rd, Lodi, CA 95240. With the vigil at 9:30am.
