Lynette Brehm

July 14, 1970 - February 26, 2022

ynette Marie Vierra Brehm passed away February 26, 2022 surrounded by family at home in Acampo, California. She was married to Steve Brehm for over 28 years. Lynette was born on July 14, 1970, in Lodi. She is the daughter of Mary Ann Kester and the late Harry Kester and Vernon and Jenise Vierra of Acampo. Lynnette graduated from Lincoln High School in Stockton, California.
Lynette received her bachelor's degree from California State University, Stanislaus, and her Masters in Special Education from University of the Pacific. Lynette loved working in the classroom and was committed to her students, even getting certified to use a service dog, Cowan, to help meet her students' needs. It was this commitment that earned Lynette the Good Angel Award from the San Joaquin chapter of the American Red Cross.

Lynette's love of animals was only exceeded by her devotion to her family, taking her children to 4H competitions, volleyball matches, swim meets, soccer games-even riding with them in equestrian competitions throughout the area. She had a strong faith with a Catholic background. Most recently, Lynette took great joy in attending her son's graduation ceremony into the ranks of the United States Navy.
In addition to her husband and parents, Lynette is survived by her three children, Kelsey, Stephen, and Kayla Brehm, and her granddaughter Kenzie. She is also survived by her siblings Monica Vierra-Green, Jackie Purdy (Vierra), and John Vierra. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Tony and Vivian Vierra, and Ellwein and Lillian Schimke, and her brother, Logan Vierra.

Her memory will be cherished by many as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to all who loved her. A service will be held on Friday, March 11th, 2022 at St. Joachim Catholic Church at 13392 E. Lockeford Ranch Dr. at 10am. A rosary service will be held at 9am. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30pm at St. Jorge Winery at 22769 Bender Rd. in Acampo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canine Companions for Independence at 2965 Dutton Ave in Santa Rosa or Hospice of San Joaquin at 3888 Pacific Ave. in Stockton.

Jacqueline Addison

January 8, 1950 - February 26, 2022

Jacqueline “Jackie” Loraine Addison

Jacqueline Loraine Addison, 72, passed away on February 26, 2022, at her home in Stockton, California, from complications of cancer. Jackie was a beloved member of the Good Shepherd Family Ministry and St. Andrews Lutheran Church.
She was born on January 8, 1950, in French Camp, California, to Cecil Gordon Addison and Helen Jean Liddicoat Addison, and was baptized as an infant at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stockton.
Survivors include her godmother and best friend Cathy Pauley; independent living trainer Shaefaye Kirkendoll; dear friend Leo Juarez; and her kitty Snowball.
Family members who survive her are sisters Robin Vierra and Patti Addison, both of Stockton; nieces Anna Hernandez of Sacramento, Darlene Hudson of Stockton; great nieces Khloe Hernandez and Josephine Lopez and great nephew Michael Lopez, all of Stockton; and cousins Maureen Roberts, Carol Liddicoat, Emily Hurst and John Avila, all of Stockton.
She was preceded in death by longtime companion Ruben Arrieta of Stockton, her parents and sisters Rosemary Addison and Greta Addison.
Jackie was a lifelong member of the Good Shepherd Family at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, a ministry that serves disabled adults in the Stockton area. She was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Dining Hall, participated in the Service First day program, and enjoyed walking with the Delta Tule Trekkers. She delighted in the church’s K-9 comfort dog program and the ministry’s canine, Rahab.
She met Ruben Arrieta 21 years ago on a city bus and they became longtime companions. He passed away in June 2021, and two weeks later, Jackie went into hospice care. She is being laid to rest in a private ceremony at Cherokee Memorial Park in Lodi, next to where Ruben was buried.
Jackie loved her cat Snowball and bought him gifts every holiday on the calendar. She was a die-hard San Francisco 49er fan and her apartment was covered in cats and 49er garb. Her love of life and people was reflected by the tremendous love and generosity shown her by her family, church and caregivers.
The family wants to thank Bristol Hospice for their excellent care and visits these past eight months. They also want to thank Divine Caregivers LLC for providing 24-hour care so Jackie could stay at home.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Ave. in Stockton. Before her death, she requested that memorial contributions go to the Comfort Dog Ministry or Good Shepherd Family Ministry at St. Andrews Lutheran Church (stalc.churchcenter.com/giving).

David Freeman

July 10, 1938 – February 24, 2022

David Leroy Freeman passed away on Thursday February 24, 2022 at the age of 83. Dave was born in Arkansas City, Kansas on July 10, 1938. He moved around quite a bit with his family and graduated from high school in a small town on the Columbia Basin in the state of Washington and immediately joined the Navy. He chose to study to become a weatherman and served on an Admiral’s staff in Okinawa, Japan.

Upon his honorable discharge, he started working for Standard Oil, becoming an assistant service station manager in Livermore, CA. One night while working at the station, he was robbed at gunpoint which set him on a new career path in law enforcement. Dave worked for the Pleasanton Police Department from June 1, 1962 until retiring on June 1, 1992. During his 30 year career he rose from Officer to Sergeant to Lieutenant and on a couple of occasions served as acting Chief of Police. He also served as the Investigation Division Commander and served as Watch Commander. While serving in the department, Dave received many commendations for his work with Juveniles, developing the canine unit, murder investigations and other heroic actions while in the line of duty.

After retiring, Dave remained active and enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. He worked security for St. Joseph’s Hospital and for Apple Computer.

Dave is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ralph and Elsie, his brother Paul and his first wife, of 22 years, Joyce.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jackie, his sons Kerry and Jeff, his step children Tommy, Denise and Debbie and his grandchildren Nic, Katie and Jason.

SERVICES:

Services will be held at Cherokee Memorial Park off Hwy 99 at Harney Lane and Beckman Road in Lodi on Tuesday March 8, 2022. Viewing from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and graveside service at noon.

Dave will be missed by many family, friends and colleagues who loved him dearly.

Harriet Lucas

October 24, 1926 - February 23, 2022

Harriet passed away peacefully on February 23. She was 95 years old.

Born in Manteca and the child of Greek immigrants, she learned the value of hard work, determination, and her Orthodox Christian faith became the center of her life. She was a graduate of Manteca High School and then took exams where she was acknowledged for her efficiency and extraordinary typing speed. The Southern Pacific Railroad hired her as the executive secretary to the District Freight Manager and she retired after 42 years of service.

Harriet was a member of Women's Traffic and Transportation Club, Republican Women, and St.Basil's Philoptochos Society. After retirement, she enjoyed helping Philoptochos and working at the annual food festival. Her favorite place to be was in church on Sunday and she said that going to church makes your week perfect. She never went to an appointment empty-handed - there was always candy or cookies in her purse ready to hand out. Cooking and entertaining brought her great joy and she was exceptional at both.

Harriet met the love of her life, Jerry Lucas, in Stockton. They were married in 1954 and had two children, Jim and Helen. During their retirement, they had the opportunity to travel to their favorite destinations. They loved spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harriet loved being called pro-yiayia (great-grandmother) and felt truly blessed.

She is predeceased in death by her husband Jerry, sister Ruby, and brother James. She is survived by her son Jim Lucas of San Francisco, daughter Helen (Aaron) Garner of Galt, grandson Dean (Tara) Xanttopulos of Lodi, granddaughter Leah (Stephen) Bonnesen of Stockton, and great-grandchildren Nico Xanttopulos, Alex Xanttopulos, and Taso Bonnesen.

Trisagion Service will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 6 p.m., St. Basil Greek Orthodox Christian Church.

Donations can be made to St. Basil Philoptochos Society.

Joseph (Joey) Michael Cano, 41, tragically lost his live on February 21, 2022 in Sacramento, CA. Joey is survived by his mother, Tina Turfan and his brother Jason Cano Joey also had another brother, Justin Cano who passed in 2003.

Joey was born in Stockton, CA on December 5, 1980. In 1992 he moved to Pioneer, CA where he spent most of his life working as a carpenter, hunting, and fishing. Joey loved sports, reading, playing the guitar and Mexican food. But he REALLY loved to turkey hunting and dive for Abalone.

Joey had a big heart, a great smile and will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all of his family and friends.

Conchita Estrella

Conchita Francisco Estrella, 87 years passed away on February 20, 2022 in Stockton, California.  Conchita was born in Lambac, Cardona, Rizal, Philippines on July, 24, 1934. She is survived by loving husband, Henry Estrella. She was a dedicated mother to Maureen Estrella, Yvonne Estrella, Wayne Estrella and Patricia Estrella. She was a proud grandmother Jon Curry, Jessica Curry Egger, Jenna Curry Sims, Travis Altig, Tiffany Altig Rajski, Bryson Estrella and Angelica Montes De Oca. She adored her great –grandchildren Ezra Curry, Samantha Curry, Zackary Curry, Isabella Sims, Gabriella Sims, Michael Sims, Marcus Sims, Elliot Rajski, Owen Rajski, and  Malia Hernandez. She was the second born of nine, surviving siblings are Crising Raymondo, Rizal Francisco, and Sydney Francisco. She loved and was loved by countless in-laws from the Estrella and Francisco ohanas. She shared her blessing with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too many to name.  

Conchita’s love was not limited to “blood relatives”. Her home was always open for friends to visit for a meal or a place to sleep.  She lived the ALOHA SPIRIT!

As we are all sadden by her passing, we are comforted in knowing that Conchita now walks in HEAVEN.

Melvin Rivers

July 28, 1949 - February 18, 2022

Melvin Earl Rivers was born July 28, 1949, in San Mateo, California, to the marital union of Charles Walter Rivers, Jr. and Rosie Lee Clark.  He was a graduate of San Mateo High School, class of 1968. Melvin was talented in Athletics and the Arts, with a concentration in Basketball, Track, Cross Country, and Concert Choirs events.

Melvin accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. As a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church of San Mateo, California under the leadership of Reverend W. C. Sample, he was active in the Youth Choir and the Baptist Youth Union.

While attending the College of San Mateo, Melvin was drafted into the military. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War working as Military Police and a Canine Dog Handler. Upon being honorably discharged, Melvin dedicated the next 28 years supporting our youth at Redwood City Boys and Girls Club as well as coaching, mentoring and counseling so many. He inspired youth to improve their lives.  He retired as Program Director of Youth Services.  

Melvin moved to Stockton, California in 2013, where he became a faithful member of Progressive Community Church. He loved Visual and Performing Arts, gathering with friends and family, dancing, teaching his nieces and nephews to play a plethora of sports, board games, cards, and cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49’ers and Giants.  

Melvin is preceded in death by the following:  His parents, Charles Rivers and Rosie Lee Rivers; seven brothers: Charles Rivers III, Gregory

Rivers, Freddie Rivers, Dwight Rivers, Willie Rivers, Frankie Rivers, his identical twin Marvin Rivers; and nephew: Jerry Rivers.

He leaves loved ones to cherish his memory: sister, Pheon Rivers Davison: loving nephews, Kenneth McCardie, Ashanti Davison, Damani Rivers, Clifton Williams and Edward Ellis, loving nieces, Akilah Davison Ellis, Devika Rivers, Ella Mae Daigle, Je A’nna McCardie and Monique Davison, great nieces, Kilan McCardie, Zoe Davison and Leah Ellis, great nephews, Ashanti Davison Jr. and Zaden Davison; favorite cousins: Larry Page, Angela Page, and Clementene McMillian.  He will be missed by a host of passionate cousins and special friends.

Phyllis Bogard

October 29, 1934 - February 17, 2022

Phyllis Bogard was born on October 29th, 1934, in Goodland, Kansas. She was the first born of her parents Norma & Boyd Hubbard. She shared many happy times with her siblings Janice (Pat) Collum, Lester(Jean) Hubbard, David Hubbard, & Sharrel Howe. Phyllis met her husband Stan Bogard in high school in Coquille, Oregon. They got married on December 4th, 1952. They were married 43 years, until Stan passed away. They were blessed with three kids. Lori (Steve) Schwartz, Randy (Roseann) Bogard & Lisa (Jerry) Root.

Blessings kept coming as five grandchildren joined the family. Carrie(Scott) Kendricks, Amy Wentzel (fiancé Jeff Lozano), Joshua Root, Lindsey (Jeff) Huntington, Sarah Bogard and Jordan Root.

Phyllis was thrilled to become a Great-Grandma to Erik, Taylor, Bryson, Maverick, Allison & Everly. She also got to meet her future greats Nick & Lexi.

Phyllis had many jobs. She was the operator at Chase Chevrolet, and also at Hunter Leggett. She ended her working career as a bank teller.

Family and friends were always important to Phyllis. She always made our holidays magical. She enjoyed family get togethers. Traveling in their RV's with her siblings was a highlight for her. She loved visits from her family. Talking on the phone, puttering in her yard and watching TV in her retirement years.

She moved to Sacramento in her last 11 years. She was wheelchair bound, and suffered from Dementia. She was no longer able to care for herself. Lori made sure to get her to all of her many appointments. They enjoyed their weekend outings shopping, where she needed to stock up on her candy. Then they ended the day going to lunch. They loved it when other family could join them. The highlight was always a strawberry milkshake with lunch.

Phyllis was blessed to have her caregiver Joel. He was so good to her.

Phyllis passed peacefully in her sleep on February 17, 2022.

It makes us sad to know we won't hear I love you or feel your hugs anymore. We do take comfort knowing that you will be watching over all of us and we all hope to feel your presence. We talked about that.

May God bless you in eternal peace. Enjoy your time with others that have passed before you... until we once again meet up with you. We will cherish all of our special memories with you. Spread your wings and fly our sweet Angel... you are free from your earthly body.

Remember we all love you so very much.

Shirley Louise Ashlock

June 27, 1924 - February 15, 2022

Shirley Louise Ashlock was born on June 27, 1924 in Mullen, Idaho to Alta Maxine Chisholm and James Chisholm. Shirley was raised in Alamosa, Colorado but came to California in 1940. Shirley was married to her husband James Ashlock from 1945 until his death in 1982. Together they had three children, James Alan Ashlock(Pamela), Janet Dorton, and Laurence Ashlock(Joanna). Shirley worked as a telephone operator working for Pacific Bell for 14 years and for Sharp Army Depot for 25 years until she retired in 1988. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents (Alta Maxine Chisholm and James Chisholm), her sister (Dorthy), her husband (James Ashlock), and her daughter (Janet Dorton). Shirley is survived by her two sons James Alan Ashlock (Pamela), Laurence Ashlock (Joanna), several grand children and great grand children. Shirley Louise Ashlock was a gentle, kindhearted person who was welcoming to all. She knew no stranger and enjoyed chatting with everyone.
