Shirley A. Guinn

Shirley Ann Guinn

January 14, 1939 - January 17, 2026

OBITUARY

Shirley Ann Guinn (Tommila) passed away on January 17th 2026, at the age of 87 in Stockton, CA. She left this world surrounded by her loving family.

She will be welcomed into Heaven by her husband Blake, and her grandson Mac.

Born January 14th, 1939 in Tripoli Wisconsin, Shirley was the eldest of her siblings: Richard, Frank (deceased), John (deceased), Lucille, Robert, and Joe. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Butch (Linda) Guinn, Cherrill Jones and Teresa Rossi.

She leaves grandchildren: Lindsay (Bill) Metzinger, Michella Rossi, Blake (Tanya) Guinn, John Rossi, and Lisa Rogers. Great-grandchildren: Nathan Rossi, Caroline and Benjamin Guinn, and Layne August Russell

Shirley was a devoted homemaker who dutifully supported her lifelong husband, Blake. Together, they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure, traveling the western United States in their motorhome.

In quiet moments, Shirley could often be found with a book in hand or seated at her kitchen window, observing the goings on of the neighborhood.

As a grandmother, she was endlessly generous. She sewed handmade Halloween costumes, drove to four different fast food drive-throughs because a car full of grandchildren couldn’t agree on just one. If she picked you up sick from school, you would receive a detailed education in her strategy for The Price is Right. A visit to Grandma and Papa’s house always promised good times and full bellies.

Above all else, Shirley will be remembered for her remarkable strength and her unwavering ability to smile through life’s many challenges.

Jerry Hauan

Jerry Daniel Hauan
May 9, 1956 - January 12, 2026

Jerry Hauan passed on January 12th, 2026. He was born on May 9th, 1956, in Pittsburg, California, and grew up in Bethel Island, California. In 1974, he graduated from Liberty Union High School in Brentwood, CA. He then attended San Francisco State University, graduating with a degree in International Relations in 1980. Jerry was actively involved in DeMolay, a Masonic affiliated youth group for young men, from his teens to young adulthood. After joining and holding several offices he rose to serve Antioch Chapter as Master Counselor and eventually served at the Divisional level as Master Counselor of the East Bay DeMolay Association. As a young adult, Jerry continued to expand his beliefs and service to Freemasonry by becoming a Mason himself. In order to journey deeper into the craft he also became a member of the Scottish Rite or a 32 degree Mason. As a young man, he continued his involvement in freemasonry by joining the organization. Jerry always believed in seeking the truth in all things, that beyond the noise, within the grey, lies reality. Masonry was foundational in fostering and developing these core beliefs. It was this involvement in DeMolay and Masonry that allowed him to meet his lifelong group of friends, The Whizzers. Although Jerry loved International Relations, his drive to be in charge of his own future won out, and he started his specialty contracting business, JD Specialties, in 1990, retiring in 2024. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Byer-Hauan; son, William Hauan; brothers, Alan Hauan (Victoria) and Erik Hauan; and sister, Lynne Olcomendy (David).

Friends and family are invited to his Celebration of Life on Thursday, February 19th at 1:00PM at Cherokee Memorial and Funeral Home, Lodi, CA. Reception following at Woodbridge Country Club, Woodbridge, CA. In place of flowers, donations can be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital or a charity of your choice.

Jerry’s calming, kind, and steadfast nature offered guidance, friendship, light, and a port in any storm to those around him. He will be loved and missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Hauan family.

Gail Reed Breece

January 27, 1951 - January 10, 2026

Gail was born in Sacramento, CA to Rosemary and Calvin Reed. She earned a Bachelor’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Sacramento State University in 1974 and a Master’s from Humboldt State University in 1975. She dedicated her career to working as a Speech Therapist at California public schools, helping her students overcome speech challenges so they could be better understood. She believed in the power of education to uplift and transform lives.

Being a teacher was not just her profession, but an extension of who she was—patient, encouraging, and compassionate. She taught far beyond the classroom, shaping lives through quiet strength, gentle guidance, and an unwavering belief in others. The lessons she gave, rooted in care and curiosity, live on in how her children and her students love, teach, and try to leave the world better than they found it.

In 1977, she married Steven Breece, the love of her life. Together, they raised five daughters—Andrea, Katherine, Victoria, Elizabeth and Samantha—and later welcomed eight grandchildren, of whom she was deeply proud. After losing her daughter Katherine in 2014 and her husband Steven in 2015, Gail remained a source of love and support for her family.

Gail was warm and loving, known for her big smile, her laugh, her generous encouragement and belief in others. A lifelong Californian, she enjoyed swimming, skiing, and nature walks. She loved artichokes, Tootsie Rolls, hot chocolate, romantic comedies, and animals. She was always open to trying new things and learning, embodying the spirit of both teacher and student throughout her life.

In her final two years, Gail faced dementia with grace and resilience. She is now at peace and reunited with her husband Steven, her daughter Katherine, her parents Rosemary and Calvin, and her siblings.

She is survived by daughters Andrea, Victoria and husband Dmitry, Elizabeth and husband Joe, and Samantha; grandchildren Bailey, Bradley, Calvin, Max, Bridget, Steven, Weston and John, and many other loving family members, friends and neighbors.

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Breece family.
