OBITUARY

Syble Hill Bokides

With deep love & gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Syble Hill Bokides on March 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving children Bridget Bokides & Richard Bokides.

Born in Oak Grove, Louisiana, Syble was the youngest of twelve children and remained deeply connected to her large extended family throughout her life. After graduation she moved to Houston Texas and eventually settled in Stockton, California where she married Richard (Demastenes) Bokides. Together they shared 49 years of marriage while raising their family and operating several businesses throughout the central valley, including Stockton, Tracy, and Wesley. Syble was an active member of the Stockton Lions Club for many years and proudly served as president. She also volunteered at the Stockton Blind Center and helped raise funds through countless ticket sales at the Lions Clubs annual Crab Feeds. An avid bowler and devoted mother, Syble rarely missed one of her children’s sporting events, no matter the weather. She was known for her elegance and love of fashion & jewelry. She was often seen arriving in her signature heels.

Syble and Richard were passionate fans of the San Francisco 49ers and longtime season ticket holders who loved to tailgate in their motorhome. After Richard’s passing she found companionship and love with John Berkshire who remained devoted to her for the past 15 years. She spent her later years in Woodbridge and Folsom California.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Syble’s memory may be made to UC Davis Hospice, whose compassionate care meant so much to our family.

Her family takes comfort knowing she is reunited with her parents, siblings, and husband Richard.

Please leave your condolences below.

Amarinder Gill

January 14, 1980 - March 5, 2026

Amarinder Gill, lovingly known to many as “Ami G” and proudly calling himself “AKA Inspiration”, passed away suddenly and tragically in San Francisco at the age of 46.

Amarinder was a thoughtful, intelligent and determined individual who believed deeply in learning, growth and creativity. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Essex and later completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Computer Science at the University of Sheffield. He was also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), an achievement he worked hard for and held with great pride.

He had a vibrant and adventurous spirit and found joy in both great journeys and simple everyday moments. He loved basketball, golf, music and art. As a young boy he delighted family members with magic tricks and laughter, carrying that same playful warmth and curiosity with him throughout his life.

One of Amarinder’s most remarkable personal achievements was his self-named “Walking Man” journey, during which he walked the California coastline from San Francisco to San Diego carrying only a backpack and tent. This experience reflected his independence, resilience and deep desire to connect meaningfully with the world around him.

Above all, Amarinder will be remembered for his kindness and generosity. He cared deeply for people who were struggling, particularly those experiencing homelessness. He would often buy meals, offer companionship and stand up for their dignity without hesitation. His genuine smile, humour, loyalty and fearless heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

He is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his father, mother, sister and his cousins, extended family members, close friends, and the nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Ami. He brought joy wherever he went — even animals seemed drawn to his gentle and loving nature.

In honour of Amarinder’s compassionate spirit, donations can be made to North Beach Citizens, a nonprofit organization supporting vulnerable members of the San Francisco community.

Dustin DeWitt

Dustin DeWitt
July 30, 2004 - March 2, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dustin DeWitt, who left us far too soon on Monday, March 2, 2026, at the age of 21. Dustin was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit touched everyone who knew him. In his short but meaningful life, Dustin left a lasting impression on the many people fortunate enough to cross his path.

Born on July 30, 2004, in Stockton, California, Dustin was the son of David DeWitt and Sokha Hem. He grew up in Stockton and graduated from Lincoln High School, Class of 2022, where his charisma and infectious personality made him widely known among classmates, who voted him “Most Wanted.”

Dustin was attending San Joaquin Delta College, working toward his education while balancing jobs at Marina Market and Dutch Bros Coffee. At Dutch Bros, Dustin quickly became a beloved presence among coworkers and customers alike. Known for his genuine kindness and bright spirit, he had a natural gift for connecting with people—often chatting with customers about school, life plans, or whatever was on their minds. Many looked forward to seeing him, and it wasn’t uncommon for customers to tip him even when he hadn’t made their drink, simply because of the positivity he brought to every interaction. The feeling of being welcomed and remembered that Dustin created will remain a lasting memory for those who knew him there.

Dustin was a gentle and giving soul with a deep compassion for animals and for anyone in need. Over the years he rescued and cared for many animals—including cats, dogs, reptiles, and even toads—always eager to help and protect them. He loved spending time outdoors and found peace in fishing, hiking, surfing, and being near the ocean, where he could swim far out and stay for hours.

Music was another constant in Dustin’s life. A percussionist throughout high school and into his early college years, he played drums, snare, and cymbals, and loved singing karaoke with friends and family, bringing laughter and energy wherever he went. Curious and quick-minded, Dustin could solve a Rubik’s Cube in seconds, enjoyed Pokémon, and was always eager to learn something new.

Dustin dreamed of traveling the world and was pursuing a career as a flight attendant, which combined his love of travel with his gift for connecting with people. One trip he especially looked forward to was visiting Cambodia, his mother’s homeland, where he hoped to connect more deeply with his family’s roots.

Above all, Dustin was a devoted son and an incredible big brother to his sisters, Jenika and Malia, who meant the world to him. He carried that role with pride—always protective, encouraging, and deeply loving. To many others, Dustin was more than a friend; he was a best friend, someone whose loyalty, humor, and genuine care made people feel understood and valued.

Dustin is survived by his loving mother, Sokha Hem, and stepfather, Dean McLain; his father, David DeWitt, and stepmother, Flora Pinnella; his stepsister, Haley Pinnella; his beloved sisters, Jenika DeWitt and Malia McLain; his grandmother, Yay Yean, and grandfather, Soeung Hem; his cherished friends, Alex Padilla and Kimora Gray; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing him.

Though his journey ended far too soon, Dustin’s bright spirit will continue to travel with the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be profoundly missed, forever cherished, and always lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Out of the black, into the blue…think green.”

John was a life member of the Stockton Elks lodge and had just been awarded for 75 years of service to the BAC Local 3. The union wrote an article on him in the BAC Local 3 News acknowledging his 75 year accomplishment. He was very proud to receive this award this past November 2025.

John was a loving, kind and patient man. He was good with children who gravitated to him. He would take his nephew and his wife’s nephews fishing, on trips to Yosemite, Micke Grove and other places. He and his daughter Lisa would go to wrestling matches, fishing, baseball games, horseback riding and fun trips to Micke Grove, Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. She was his assistant /side kick on all house projects.

John married the love of his life, Dolores (Dee) Arnaiz. They were married 65 years until she passed in March 2018. Jennifer Oupasong

February 11, 1985 - March 1, 2026

Jennifer Oupasong, age 41, entered into eternal rest surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy far greater than the years she was given.

Born with quiet strength and a deeply compassionate heart, Jennifer lived her life devoted to the people she loved most. She carried herself with grace through every season — the joyful ones and the impossibly difficult ones — never allowing hardship to overshadow her tenderness, humor, or the light she brought into a room.

Above all, Jennifer was a devoted wife and a loving mother to her 3 amazing daughters who were her greatest pride and deepest joy. She loved fiercely, protected endlessly, and gave of herself in ways only a mother can. To her family, she was home — the steady presence, the safe place, the heartbeat of everything that mattered.

Jennifer faced life’s greatest trials with courage that inspired everyone around her. Even in moments of uncertainty, she held onto faith — trusting, hoping, and loving through it all. Her resilience was not loud, but it was powerful. It showed in her perseverance, her warmth, and the way she continued to care about others even when she was the one in need of comfort.

She is lovingly remembered by her loving life partner of 24 years Dawin, her children Daylee, Jayla & Bailey, her mother Mounty, her sister, Judy; and her brothers, Christopher, Nicholas and Christian. The many friends whose lives were made brighter simply by knowing her. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her love remains — woven into the hearts of those she leaves behind.

While our hearts grieve deeply, we find peace in believing Jennifer is now at rest, free from pain, and held gently in God’s care. Her life was a testament to love, and that love does not end.

She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered.

Timothy Kipp

Timothy Robert Kipp
July 21, 1950 - February 28, 2026

The world became a little less bright with the passing of Timothy “Tim” Robert Kipp, 75, on February 28, 2026, in Modesto, California. Born on July 21, 1950, to Geneva and John Kipp, Tim’s unending humor and infectious laugh brought joy to everyone around him throughout his life—from beginning to end (and definitely still in heaven, too).

He is survived by his two children, Jack “jackers,” and Katie “pumpkin,” Kipp; his older brother, Jim; and his former wife, Tracey Lavagnino. Tim was a loving and attentive father to his children and a devoted uncle to Jim’s children, Tammy, Rich, and Brandyn. One thing that everyone who knew Tim understood was how much he adored his kids. They were truly his world. He was always so proud of them and they hope to continue to make him proud everyday moving forward. Whether he was taking them on their annual camping trips, teaching them how to golf and fish, having family game nights, or baking some of his infamous “Kipp’s Cookies,” which he loved to share with everyone, he made every moment memorable.

Tim was born in Stockton, California, and grew up in Antioch, California. His immense love for people and music sparked a lifelong passion for playing the drums—first in the band “The Great Highway,” and later in the worship band at Cornerstone Church, where he was a member for over 29 years. Throughout his diverse career, Tim always brought his deep love for people, brightening every room with his contagious smile and laugh. He worked alongside his mother at Fibreboard Credit Union, attended at Mace Meadows Golf Course in Pioneer, owned and operated a cookie store, “Kipp’s Cookie Creations,” in Stockton, and later worked as a campus security guard at Liberty High School in Lodi. For over 20 years, he encouraged students and shared his love for people and drums.

Tim loved deeply and wholeheartedly. He enjoyed music of all kinds, especially classic rock—his favorites being Led Zeppelin, Bob Seger, and The Eagles. He loved cheering for the Raiders, playing card games like Texas Hold ’em, and, of course, baking his famous chocolate chip cookies. He cherished time outdoors, whether camping, fishing, golfing, skiing, or, in his earlier years, suntanning. Above all else, Tim loved his family, people, and the Lord.

CELEBRATION OF LIFE
A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at Faith Community Church in Lodi, California, on May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome to come together to honor his life and share memories. His life brought joy to so many, and his memory will continue to do the same."

Cherokee Memorial is honored to serve the Kipp family.
