Stanley Nels Sogsti

Stanley Nels Sogsti

March 11, 1948 - March 15, 2026

OBITUARY

Stanley Nels Sogsti, 78, of Lodi, California, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2026, with his family by his side.

Stan truly said “yes” to life and was one of the most positive people you could ever meet. He was born on March 11, 1948, to Margo and Nels. After graduating from Lawndale High School in 1966, Stan began his career with Allstate at the age of 20.

In 1976, he met the love of his life, Joanne Light, and they were soon married. Together they created a family of five girls, two from Stan (Cherie and Michelle) and three from Joanne (Melanie, Stephanie, and Julie.) They built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. September 17, 2026, would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary.

Over the years, Stan wore many hats—starting as an Allstate adjuster and eventually rising to sales manager through numerous promotions and relocations. A five-time Key Manager Award winner, Stan ranked among the top 15% of sales managers in the United States. His success allowed him and Joanne to travel to destinations such as Hawaii, Florida, Palm Springs, Bermuda, and Mexico.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Stan pursued his real estate license while working full-time and raising a family, becoming a part-time realtor with Century 21. At age 40, he took on another challenge—returning to school while working 50 hours a week. In June 1989, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Behavior from the University of San Francisco.

Stan retired from Allstate in March 2003, achieving his goal of retiring early “while all his body parts still worked.” From 2003 to 2007, he and Joanne traveled across all 50 states in their 35.5-foot Teton fifth-wheel RV—a journey of a lifetime.

In retirement, Stan embraced his passions: RV camping, photography, stained glass art, motorcycle riding, and travel. Together, he and Joanne explored all 50 states and 16 countries.

Never one to slow down, Stan returned to work in a variety of roles. He served as a CPR instructor with the American Red Cross, proudly teaching life-saving skills to doctors, nurses, EMTs, and paramedics. He later worked as a field operations officer for the U.S. Census Bureau, overseeing 144 employees, and as a bailiff in the San Joaquin County Civil Court. He also worked for the City of Stockton supervising parking attendants across 19 locations.

From 2018 to 2023, Stan drove for Uber and Lyft, completing over 14,000 rides and maintaining a 5-star rating. He cherished the opportunity to connect with people and often said he never had a bad ride—always learning something from every passenger.

Stan had a deep love for law enforcement and dedicated 27 years as a volunteer lieutenant with the Lodi Police Department. He played a key role in developing the Partners Driver Certification Course, delivered numerous training lectures, and served as a lead instructor for the Partners Academy. Over his service, he logged more than 11,000 hours and received numerous honors, including Volunteer of the Year and two Meritorious Service Medals.

A natural leader and connector, Stan helped grow the Code 5 RV group from just four couples to 62 rigs. True to their spirit, the group avoided formalities—no meetings, dues, or boards—just monthly outings and a shared motto: “No use is abuse.”

Stan was a dedicated and active member of the Golden Anchor Boat Club, where he served in numerous leadership roles over the years, ultimately holding the club’s highest honor as Commodore. The Delta held a special place in his heart, offering the peaceful waters and relaxed atmosphere he treasured most.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Margo and Nels, and his daughter Melanie, who passed away from a brain aneurysm in 2020.

He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne; his children Stephanie, Cherie (Greg), Julie, Michelle (Mac); and a large, loving family he was immensely proud of. His twelve grandchildren include Trever (Trista), Chelsea (Kyle), Nicholas, Akhie, Sophie, Samantha, Grace, Stella, Ellie, Tanner, Chloe and Kylie. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren: Cadence, Brilee, Kenton, Bennett, Keaton, Leila, Lennox, Ellie, Harlee and Mac. He is further survived by his brother Steve, niece Stephanie (Chris) and their daughter Charlotte, and nephew Steve (Rebecca) and their children, Kaden and Annika.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to organizations Stan deeply cared about, including the Lodi Partners Program and his Diabetic Support Group.

James Lee Fuller

James Lee Fuller

April 13, 1949 - April 7, 2026

OBITUARY

James Lee Fuller, affectionately known as “Jimmy” and “Jones,” departed this life on April 7, 2026, at Dameron Hospital in Stockton, California, just days before his 77th birthday. He was 76 years old.

James was born on April 13, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, to James Fuller and Unita Fuller-Jones, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the grandson of Cardell and Lola Fuller of Troup, Texas. At a young age, his family relocated to Fresno, California. His early years were shaped between Fort Worth, Texas, and Fresno, California, where he attended schools in the Fresno Unified School District and later graduated from Edison High School. Shortly after high school, James was drafted into the United States Army. Upon returning, he began building what would become a life defined by hard work, responsibility, and unwavering dedication to family. In 1970, he was united in matrimony to the love of his life, Lorita Fuller, his loving companion and best friend. In search of a new beginning, they decided to relocate from Tulare, California, to Stockton, California.

In 1971, he began his career at San Joaquin Delta College in the maintenance department. What started as a role cleaning classrooms and maintaining campus grounds grew into a remarkable 38-year career. Through diligence and commitment, he rose to become Director of the Maintenance Department before retiring. During his tenure as Director, James made a lasting impact by hiring and mentoring young men in the community, offering many a second chance and an opportunity to provide for their families.

A man of vision and determination, James became a homeowner in his early twenties through a first-time home-buyer program, purchasing land and building his home from the ground up. This achievement reflected his deep belief in responsibility, ownership, and legacy.

James was a man with a strong work ethic. In addition to his full-time career at Delta College, he worked evenings with The Henry Jones Custodial Services, where he cleaned the floors of local grocery stores and the downtown Stockton Car Dealerships. He also spent nearly 30 years driving charter buses on weekends—a role he came to love after transporting athletic teams to their sports games during his time at Delta College.

Beyond his work ethic, James had a passion for working with his hands. He loved cars—from performing simple oil changes to rebuilding engines and restoring classic vehicles. He took great pride in his classic Chevrolets, including his beloved 1959 white Chevy with red leather seats and his black Caprice Classic. He also enjoyed building model cars, maintaining his yard, and creating a space his family could gather and enjoy.

Family was the center of James’ life. He found great joy in family gatherings, holiday dinners, and simply being surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He loved to rent RVs and take his family on summer vacations to places such as Portland, Oregon; Yosemite National Park; Las Vegas; and the beaches of Southern California, where he would park the RV and his wife Lorita would make home-cooked meals on the beach instead of stopping for fast food. Can you imagine her frying pork chops for dinner on the beach? He was known for firing up the grill for family gatherings and serving his famous ribs. He loved when his siblings, nieces and nephews visited, as it gave him the opportunity to step into his role as the “big brother” of the family, offering wisdom. He also enjoyed music from the Motown era, often listening to artists such as James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Luther Ingram, and Smokey Robinson. There were many nights he and his wife, Lorita, would drive around Stockton, cruising and taking in the city lights. In quieter moments, he could be found watching classic sitcoms like The Jeffersons and Sanford and Son, with Esther as one of his favorite characters.

James had a strong, quiet presence. He was hardworking, serious, disciplined, and deeplycommitted to those he loved. He believed in family unity and carried a no-nonsense approach to life. His words, often direct and memorable, reflected both his humor and his expectations: “Handle your business,” “You’ve got more excuses than a dog has fleas,” and “Your head is as hard as the horns of a Billy goat.” Beneath his stern exterior was a man who loved deeply and showed it through provision, protection, and presence.

Though not formally affiliated with a specific church, James faithfully served his community and local congregations in quiet but meaningful ways—helping set up events and offering resources without expecting anything in return. He would often provide rental tables and chairs from Delta College for church events and annual church picnics without charging the church a fee. His favorite televangelist was Dr. Fredrick K.C. Price, whom he listened to faithfully for many years on Sunday mornings.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Lorita Fuller; and several siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Brian Torrance (São Paulo, Brazil), Derrick Timmons (Tulare, CA), Desiree Timmons (Tulare, CA), James Lee Fuller, Jr. (Louisiana), Rosalynd Divinity (Los Angeles, CA), Tamala Moore (Stockton, CA), and Sherril Fuller (Stockton, CA); fourteen grandchildren: Shaylynn Garza, Michael Garza, Jr., Lyric Wise, Dontae Torrance, Vetronique Timmons, Derrick Timmons Jr., Moses Timmons, Shantell Timmons, Jacob Timmons, Armanhi Timmons, Isaiah Timmons, Leland Williams, Aiyana Williams, and Ja’vonte Ellington; six great-grandchildren: Janiiah king, Joshua king, Nehemiah Douangmala, Cha’Nya Timmons, Laniya Ellington and Zakhia Williams; his siblings, Ladell Williams (Fresno, CA), Frank Jones, Jr. (Fresno, CA), Cantrell Jones (Seattle, WA), Diane Johnson, and Beverly Gail Jones-Hudson (Sacramento, CA); along with a host of great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

James will be remembered as a man who believed in responsibility, kept his word, and taughtthose around him to do the same. His legacy lives on in the lives he shaped, the family he built, and the values he instilled.

Rosalyn Ann DiSerio

October 17, 1925 - April 7, 2026

OBITUARY

Rosalyn Anne DiSerio (Salemme) passed away on April 7 at the age of 100. Born to Madeline and Anthony Salemme in Endicott, New York, in 1925, Rosalyn was the second of six children and lovingly known as "Lolie." A proud member of the Greatest Generation, she grew up during the Great Depression, experienced poverty firsthand, and spent two years of her youth in a tuberculosis sanitarium-early hardships that helped shape her strength, resilience, and grace.
Inspired to serve her country during World War II, Rosalyn left home to work for the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C. After returning to New York, she met Dominick DiSerio, a handsome young serviceman whom she married. Together, they settled in Syracuse, and raised three sons-Victor, Michael, and James-instilling in them the values of hard work, dedication, and family above all else. Rosalyn and Dom supported their sons through sports, schooling away from home, and travels across the country, eventually welcoming seven grandchildren who would all come to know and love her as "Baba."
After nearly 50 years of marriage, Dom suffered a stroke, and they moved to California to be closer to family. Rosalyn became his devoted caregiver for the final 10 years of his life. Her selfless love and compassion were a powerful example to all who witnessed it, and she often said there was nothing she and Dom would not do for each other.
Dom passed away in 2001, and Rosalyn carried on her cherished role as Baba, traveling across the country to attend grandchildren's graduations, weddings, and milestones. She was thrilled to eventually meet all seven of her great-grandchildren and, this past October, joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family who adored her.
Rosalyn was predeceased by her husband Dominick; her brothers Nick and John Salemme; her sisters Anita Salemme and Mary DiSerio; and her daughter-in-law, Renee DiSerio. She is survived by her devoted sons: Victor (Kathleen) of Singer Island, Florida; Michael; and James (Susan) of Stockton, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Steven, Laura (Casey), Stephanie, Gina (Patrick), Jill, Dominick, and Justine (Brian); her great-grandchildren James, Will, Ben, John, Isabel, Edward, and Owen; her sister Sally (Otto) Nechlaba of Endicott, New York; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren. A private, family funeral will be held in California.
Rosalyn's strong spirit and unwavering optimism-even in the most difficult times-were an inspiration to all. Ever the optimist, she may have single-handedly kept the California State Lotto in business with her daily scratch-off purchases.
Over her 100 years, Rosalyn gained a wealth of wisdom that she gladly shared. When asked for her most important advice, she always said, "Pray every day... no matter who or what you pray to, just pray every day." She also believed, "We don't say goodbye-we say so long."
So long, Baba. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished by a family grateful to have shared in your love for so many years.
